Hello everybody. I've finally had a chance to sit down and do this, so here it is; the TiA demographics survey results.
We had a total of 12,317 responses. If I have the time, a more thorough breakdown will be posted (e.g., how many of those cis guys are white).
The gender mix - we've 71% males, but 5.2% are trans or non-binary; now it's very hard to get solid numbers on the trans population, but 5% is a not inconsiderable fraction.
Sexual orientations - and check it out. Two-thirds are straight; the rest of us like committing unnatural acts that would infuriate Westboro. Well done!
The racial breakdown - here a solid three quarters of us are white; although TiA has more racial diversity than Australia does, we are predominantly pale-faces.
We have a lot of thin privilege going on here. I heartily encourage all the guys to continue working on that; Phase 1 of my vision for /r/TumblrInAction is that the "No fat, all tone, baby!" category will double within the year, at least for the dudes. Phase 2 involves spandex. You're welcome.
Speaking of beef; looks like TiA loves meat. We do have quite a few people with certain dietary restrictions - not just of the vegetarian and vegan sort, but also of the cultural variety and medical restrictions.
Where in the world are our dear Shitlords? Looks like only 60% of us are Americans, with the Brits coming in second, followed by the Canadians. Hello to my fellow Roofuckers!
Now, onto the matter of God. We have quite a few non-religious folk here, with our second biggest being Christians. Also putting in a strong showing are the Jews, but we have quite a variety there.
We are heavily youth-oriented. Three quarters of us are in the 18-34 bracket, with the lion's share of the balance being made up by the kids, so I should probably watch my language and minimise the profanity.
TiA, it seems is poor. I suspect we have a fuckload of students in here; it also explains why very few of you have any tolerance for being lectured about how privileged you are by middle-upper class/rich brats on tumblr.
And we do indeed; a lot of us are tertiary-educated. Add up all those degrees, and a quarter of the sub has letters after their name.
About a third of us work for a living, nearly half are students, and 1 in 10 are looking for work (best of luck). Unlike tumblr, where it seems sometimes that every little fucker is living of "DONATE" buttons.
Last year TheHat2 asked if we were a bunch of capitalist pigs, and it looks like quite a few of us are! That said, I'm sure the statists bathe on a regular basis.
Now, let's check out the disabilities and disorders, and suddenly the hostility towards those tumblrinas who make up disorders or portray them like some cutesy little accessory is entirely understandable.
Time for political issues - it's a double header! Now these questions have some issues with them, and we'll be overhauling them for next time - the second group more than the first. That said, I think we can say that TiA is not the reactionary conservative stronghold our detractors claim it to be.
