No problem. We won't show you that ad again. Why didn't you like it?
Oops! I didn't mean to do this.
you are viewing a single comment's thread.

Yeah, unless it's promoted officially here (in the sidebar, in auto-responses to questions that might belong there), I don't see much hope of your sub getting much traffic or drawing many of the repetitive questions from /r/Seattle.
So, mods...this ball is in your court. If not, why not?

Due to my interactions with this user, I am not comfortable having /r/Seattle promote a subreddit with him as mod. Add to that the owner will not even permit me to be on the mod team.
We'll use another one and let this person squat on that subreddit name.
What you're possibly not aware of is that this user, along with a bunch of other malcontents and trolls that have been banned from /r/Seattle, regularly brigade this subreddit, maliciously post my personal information, and attempt to promote their subreddits here. My last interaction with this user was me pleading to have him remove my personal information from the subreddit that he moderates. He refused, and took it as an opportunity to lecture me.
I've had to go to the admins of reddit more times than I can count to ask that my personal information be removed from the subreddit this user moderates. Multiple user accounts have been admin banned because of this, and yet they still wage war on me, the other moderators of /r/Seattle and the subreddit as a whole. They are not nice people, nor reasonable ones.
Like I said, I wasn't optimistic, and I do not trust him enough to promote a subreddit that he controls.

Ah, Reddit...I love you and I hate you.
I can't condone anybody posting your private data and otherwise harassing you (as opposed to just disagreeing with you and giving you everyday, garden-variety shit--that just comes with the territory). It's harder to blame one individual for the actions of others on the sub he moderates. By that logic, you're responsible for /u/loquacious' actions, since he subscribes to /r/Seattle, no? So he, personally, has posted your personal data, or refused to remove it from his sub?
In any case...I'm glad you're willing to try the "ask" sub, whatever it's called. If it's promoted adequately, I have more hopes for it than the tagging, but they aren't mutually exclusive--doing both may be even better. And I agree that something needs to be done. The nastiness to clueless newcomers to /r/Seattle is often neither reasonable nor necessary.

So he, personally, has posted your personal data, or refused to remove it from his sub?
Yup, he refused to remove it from the sub when asked to do so.
[–]loquacious -1 points0 points1 point  (1 child)
See my reply upthread to careless. He's painting me as a villian and it's shitty and stupid.
[–]casagorditaSeaTac 1 point2 points3 points  (0 children)
So, have you posted his /u/careless's personal data, or refused to remove it when you could have?
I have plenty of partially-informed opinions here about stuff that went down before I joined this sub, or on another sub I don't read, and how it's playing out today. A straightforward answer to this question--from anybody with firsthand information--would tell me a lot more that I need to know before I can really decide who (if anybody) I think is being unreasonable here.
[–]loquacious 0 points1 point2 points  (0 children)
Dude, the "personal information" you asked to be removed was just a picture of you. A group picture. From the global reddit meetup day. A picture that is already google-able
When I said I didn't feel comfortable engaging in this kind of censorship, you flipped the fuck out on me and insulted me and basically totally lost it.
I also don't brigade you or /r/seattle from the sub you don't even permit to be named here, and you have been consistently ignoring and censoring criticism of your moderation practices in /r/Seattle and totally freaking out that it's some kind of conspiracy instead of maybe - just maybe - considering that the problem might actually be you.
Here's an example: I posted a friendly, totally sincere post promoting /r/AskSeattle as a thing and not only did you delete it, you shadow deleted it, didn't tell me and totally failed to make note of this fact in your own /r/SeattleTransparancy sub, wishing it all away to the cornfield.
And you wonder why I don't want to mod the same sub as you or I question your abilities as a mod? You are very, very reactive and emotional to/about criticism.
Any single time someone has tried to start an alternate sub (as reddit was designed to be used) you've quashed it, deleted posts about it, set automod rules to delete comments about it, ignored community outcry and more.
It's intense how willfully blind you are to any of this. It's really kind of scary. I really think you need therapy or something to get over whatever it is that's blocking you from being more balanced about any of this.
