Yeah, I find it hilarious that OP is concerned about chocolate, but not the sugar or other garbage in the TimBits. The amount of chocolate in the treat wouldn't do the dogs any harm, anyway.

I care a very large amount, however I can fully guarantee that I am not the only person that has ever given human food to a dog. It's a habit of mine to share, but it's not nearly as frequent as the story lead to believe. Maybe once a week, sometimes less if I don't leave town on the weekend.

Dogs cannot metabolize cocoa. They also shouldn't have onion.

Yes, I know. I also know that a little chocolate is generally harmless to dogs - it's certainly not more harmful than consistently feeding your dog human junk food.

I honestly only know this because a little dog of mine managed to find his way on the kitchen table (while we were at work) and break open the bag of chocolate Nutter Butters.

A bunch of payments to emergency vet later, wanted to spread the word :)

Happened to my parent's beagle. Twice. The first time, my bf at the time and I came for a visit and he made over a lb of fudge for me and another for my family. I left my tin on a table, but it was closed. Don't know how Rambler got the tin open, but he ate the entire thing (again, 1lb+ of pure fudge). He got very hyper, but I think that was it.

One single timbit on average has anywhere from 50-90 calories. All they ever get at a time is one. It's really not that big of a deal as a treat. You do realize that they get one, right? Not a dozen.. There are many foods I know to be harmful to dogs and I actively avoid them. Chocolate isn't the only thing.
