Dear Mr. Murakami,
I am very happy to be able to write to you. I first came in contact with your writing through the book “What I talk when......”
It amazed me and overall inspired me. I felt a big connection to you as I “recovered” from loosing my family through sport.I couldn´t stop reading your books. The characters I found became like friends. I was born in Uruguay but lived many years in Malta, so friends are far away.
I could hardly believe when Malta and Uruguay were mentioned in your books. Magic!
I was spending the summer in Slovakia and was delighted every day to let myself submerge in the landscapes and the lives of the characters.
Another illuminated event happened when I went to the corner supermarket to find a rock star type of guy in his late forties wearing yellow flip-flops, a snake briefcase and a Tshirt where it could be read “Kyoto”.The last day of my summer there I visited the bookstore once again and was astonished to find “Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage”. It was a beautiful thing to have found it specially since it had just come out!
Thank you so much for all your writing, I am very grateful to you!

Dear Mimi,
Thank you for the mail. I am so glad to know that you are enjoying my books. The most important thing is that I AM enjoying writing novels and stories, and at the same time you are enjoying reading them. We don't know each other and we are separated by a long distance. Still we can share that joy. That is fabulous. Don't you think so?
Thanks again.
