so i’ve seen a lot of things along the lines of “that straight kid asked that gay kid to prom and Ellen gave them $10,000 what the fuck″ and comments about how they should be beat up and how much people hate them and first off? these are juniors in high school if you’re a 23 year old ADULT getting mad about this maybe you need to do some self reflection especially if you’re reblogging posts about you how want to beat them up cause that’s on a whole other level

secondly i figured i’d clear up the actual chain of events since you guys wanna reduce it to 1. straight boy is nice to gay boy 2. profit

• Anthony Martinez is a gay brown boy on the student council that always plans school dances and never gets asked so when his straight best friend asked him to junior prom after seeing posts about him being sad about not having a date he was ecstatic because he actually got to go to a dance and go with a boy
  
• this isn’t just a straight boy being gross and trying to get ally points this is the kid’s best friend
• the promposal went viral and both of them got lots of attention, including from Ellen
  
• Anthony is going to use the money he got from Ellen to “further an education in political science and lgbtq history and pre-law” to “make sure teens and adults aren’t being kicked out of their homes or fired or bashed and can be accepted not tolerated”
  
• most importantly a gay brown boy got to feel good about himself and if that pisses you off as an adult what’s wrong with you

i understand being upset about the language used in the proposal and definitely being upset about how the media has received the story because it’s ridiculous but at its core a 16 or 17 year old gay kid got to go to prom with a boy and had a great time and kids that are out of the closet in high school get shit on enough so why are “leftists” on this website doing the same thing jw why are you wishing violence on literal children cause that’s what bigots do…………………
