I need feminism because… All hail the uteri

I need feminism because

• everyday women all around the world have their uteri treated less like this mystical instrument  crucial to the conception of mankind and more like an unmentionable monster to be hidden in the corner.
• Little girls ever shed grieving tears as though their most joyous days are behind them when they get there period.
• We are told not to talk about it and especially not by it’s name. “Her friend came for her monthly visit.” I don’t have friends who come periodically!!!
• Girls and women all over are forced to feel like they can’t act different even in the slightest way when we’re on our period or talk about it because  that’s just ammo for the guys who already say things like “you must be on your period”
• Young ladies come into my store walk up to my register and whisper “Where are you pads/ tampons.” as though it was some horrible secret experience that only they are experiencing.
• Once these women purchase their pads/ tampons they almost always want the bag doubled so that no one will know they’ve bought them
• People still say “you must be your period.”

I need feminism because for a long time I felt like my period was a curse as though my uterus was betraying me. I need feminism because all women need to know how damn shero their uterus really is.
