Stacey Dash is not backing down from comments she made this week on The Meredith Vieira Show regarding pay equality for women. The outspoken Fox News contributor has received a lot of backlash online following her remarks where she told women to stop making excuses and simply work harder. Dash, 48, took to Twitter to respond to her critics.

Dash also discussed the issue on her show Outnumbered on Wednesday, where she said she wanted to slap Kristen Stewart for asserting that Hollywood is "disgustingly sexist." That paired with the Vieira interview only fuled the fire.


"I wanna f--king punch @realstaceydash in the face for being a stupid f--k," one person tweeted at her. But the haters couldn't get Dash to back down as she retweeted many people who disagreed with her.

Vieira also did not see eye to eye with her guest.

"I feel like it's an excuse," the former Clueless star said on the show. "Stop making excuses. If there are opportunities, seize them and be prepared for them and be the best if that’s what it takes. If you have to be extraordinary then be extraordinary."

Vieira countered, "I feel like we're fighting an uphill battle. When you look at the numbers we make 78 cents for every dollar that a man makes. There's something wrong. I don't know that it's just us not taking responsibility."

"I don't know if that's true," Dash replied. "No, I know the numbers — but I feel like your daughter will be able to make as much money as she wants in her life just like you are. I mean, look at you, the success you have."

"I am successful, but it took me a long time," the 61-year-old host responded. "It takes a lot of people a long time. For many years, I was not getting paid the same as the guys."

"And you think it's because you're a woman?" Stacey asked.

"I think that had a lot to do with it," Meredith replied. "If you look at the numbers, there's a reason why women get 78 cents and men get a buck."

"See, I guess I won’t put my fate into anything other than my own action and taking my destiny in my hands," Dash said. "I will not be a victim.”

"I agree with that. I'm not saying I'm a victim," Vieira responded. "I'm pissed off. I don't want to be a victim."

"And that's the thing," Dash said. "If you want to be pissed off about it, then be pissed off about it and work harder for it. But I don't think us complaining about it — because there is a law passed that we get equal pay."

"Except we don't," Vieira said matter-of-factly. "We don't. We don't. We don't. We don't."
