The teacher got off way too light if you asked me because every black person in that school should have been off in his ass.

You told someone they were going to be murdered.  That’s a threat.  In some states, verbal threats constitute initiating a fight, or at least, turn the situation from “assault” to “mutually agreed combat”.

Not only that, the specific context of the words threaten the established and ongoing white violence against Black folks, so yes. 

You threaten murder, you might get punched, oh surprise.

Even if he directly said I’m gonna beat your ass to the kid, it would not justify assault. I highly doubt a teacher who clearly works in a black school has any prejudices towards them. You can clearly see in the picture a black boy is concerned, so if something that “bad” was said why would he be helping him? No where in most news sources does it state that this is what the teacher said and a few list that he was reading from literature and it featured the word “niggardly”, which isn’t a slur, it means miser. Even if he did say that, it would be calling the kid a thug, not a threat. It’s funny how tumblr came to that conclusion out of nowhere. Plus, you are not allowed to wear hoods in school. “someone said something i didn’t like, i can kil them if i want toooo!!  That seems to be the common them with people who share different views around here. He assaulted someone, a 70 year old man at that. He wasn’t even expelled. He should be in jail.
