Hey everyone,

As I'm sure you all know I'm not the top mod of /r/Swagbucks. Today I received a very vague and concerning private message from facelessace. I just got to reading it now as I have been busy today.

Next Friday will be the last day that this sub will be live as it will be going down for a revamp and a new mod team is moving in. This gives you time to alert the current members of your move to a new sub run by you. Good luck.

I'm extremely confused as to what is going on and why it's happening. We didn't interact muchbecause he rarely participated in the actual moderating. Also, since I handle almost everything that happens in this subreddit (Updating App Video Times, Communicating with Swagbucks to have them sponsor Giveaways/contests, the new post flairs, Hourly Alerts, etc.) there wasn't really any reason to interact since he doesn't actively moderate.

I'm really hoping this is some sort of misunderstanding because I truly believed I was doing a good job and I genuinely enjoyed visiting the subreddit frequently to see how the community was doing and where it could be improved upon. I'm not entirely sure what to do from here. However, I will update this thread once I find out more information.

EDIT: For those who are interested in joining a new Swagbucks subreddit, please subscribe to /r/SBs. Hopefully I'll be able to get /r/Swagbuck. If so, that will become the new one.

Thanks man means a lot! I went ahead and subscribed to /r/SBs and will help to do whatever you need done. I have been a sporadic poster to this sub for about 6 months now but I have a lot of free time over the summer as a college student so if things don't work out here then send me a PM or something and I will do my best to do or help with whatever is needed.

He sold the subreddit to someone. It's extremely valuable due to referral potential... Who knows though, the new mod team could be great.

Sorry I'm speculating that he sold it, because everyone that checks this sub regularly knows Garwald was doing a fine job so it makes no sense to make changes to the mod team.

I mean honestly at this point nothing will surprise me. It just makes me mad cause I know how much work Garwald has put into this sub. Over the 6 months I have been active here he has done 10 things for every 1 any other Mod has done. It wouldn't surprise me if it is Swagbucks themselves buying it as to limit our knowledge of money earning potential such as surveys and paid offers. All in all it is a sketchy situation we see going down before us.

My first thought is he is handing the sub over to the Swagbucks admins. I don't have anything against Swagbucks or Garwald but it really stinks if that is happening. I came here and joined Reddit, not Swagbucks.

Yeah, I definitely hope it's not true ... but something doesn't add up either. I mean, you've done a lot to make this such an awesome sub to be a part of everyday, so you don't deserve to be replaced.

For me, personally, having this reddit as a resource has encouraged me to be more active on Swagbucks -- I wouldn't have joined if not for you (and the rest of the helpful community, but you're pretty standout!). That said, I think even making it known all that is possible on Swagbucks must have brought them a lot more business and attention, and so I'm not even sure giving the SB admins control over this sub would really be to their benefit.

I mean, it's not like we're the grumpy Perk fandom. ;)

A community-run sub, such as this one, is a far more valuable resource to us than any employee-run sub would ever be. I applaud all of the time and effort that /u/Garwald has put into it to make it as helpful as possible.

I'm not one for conspiracies, but it's really the only logical explanation. This sub is run excellently, and there's no reason to change it, unless something underhanded is going on. Obviously they want this subreddit because it'll be what people look for. And they want us all to leave with him, because then as new people find the sub there won't be anyone around to tell them how it used to be. It'll be interesting to see who ends up on the mod team. If it is actually SB employees, it's definitely something the Admins should b made aware of.

So why not just remove this dude's rights to edit the sub? If they're going all hostile takeover I would be happy to vouch to the reddit gods that this sub is more yours than anything and that if anything this person should set up a different sub if they want different rules.

You are doing a great job, Garwald. No idea why the sub would be being turned over to someone else. At this point, and all the work you've put into it, it seems more like you should be given this sub and someone else should make their own if they don't like how this one is going.

That's odd. Hopefully it isn't as strange as it sounds but it doesn't look too good. Maybe an x-post to /r/beermoney would be a good idea so that the new sub can get more views. It will also allow for people to know where to go once this sub is shutdown for the "revamping."

I don't think this subreddit needs a revamp. It has improved every month for the last 6 months I've been here.

I really can't think of how it could be improved. The idea of "a new mod team moving in" seems ridiculous. Then again, this is the sort of backroom deal absentee subreddit owners are notorious for. They're right up there with patent trolls and domain name squatters.

I'm another one who will follow Garwald where needed. I don't like shady stuff going down in one of my most referenced subs. I don't comment here a lot, but I'm in here every day for swagcodes and info about offers and such. If things get weird I'm unsubbing. And I've already subbed the new /r/SBs.

Most likely yes, If there aren't a lot of people in the new subreddit then the chances of giveaways happening there are significantly lowered.

Swagbucks probably paid the top mod for the subreddit. should inform the admins and have them look. if I remember correctly they don't take to kindly to things like that.

I know a lot of people who don't take kindly to thongs :-) /u/garwald is one of the best mods around and this has always been a friendly and supportive sub. If swagbucks is taking over, or someone else, we can all jump ship.

You have done such a wonderful job and have made this subreddit a great place. If you do get removed from this one, I will remove myself from it and follow you to the new subreddit. I am sure quite a few people here would do the same, or at least be subscribed to both.

I like this sub how it is now, and not quite sure how anyone else could make it any better.

Holy shit, is this actually happening? I do not see a reason to replace you, you do a great job on here AND juggling all the other subreddits you mod. Most likely, he has sold the sub to Swagbucks and their employees will take over and ruin the community that we have built.
