I am a mod of /r/ShitFatPeopleHateSays. While I dislike the values of /r/FatPeopleSays (and am banned from it), we don't know the winner personally. He could have just stumbled in there from /r/all. Even so, I'll be donating to anybody no matter their personal views, because I'm always going to have something I disagree with someone. If you decide not to donate to the winner for whatever reason, I urge you to do it anyway or at least give your $1 to another winner or a charity!

I shall send my donation to our lucky winner as he is deserving and abides by the rules as laid down.

However, i will neither be entering or donating to any threads in the future.

The attitude of the community has strayed so far from the core idea of "pick a person everyone sends them a dollar" that each winner is now picked apart, judged and debated as to whether they are worth ONE MEASLY DOLLAR.
The community has taken a turn for the toxic and I honestly believe that until this sub can be an actual lottery type affair (pay a dollar in, draw, winner gets it all) then this attitude of judgement and bitchiness will become more prevalent. A winner shouldn't have to be concerned about going back and editing thier post history just in case someone is offended that they posted in sub X or sub Y. It's irrelevant.

The problem is a problem with redditors in general. "When I am wrong it's no big deal. When you are wrong it's a fucking huge deal". When you grab a large population with little social skills, then have them get something you want, they are suddenly the devil.

Personally, I don't care. He dislikes fat people. I dislike uneducated people. We all dislike someone, and making this one guy a pariah because you want his money is why I'm definitely donating to him.

I'd rather that guy get my money than some whiny bitch from this thread.

So true. Here is a lot of doxxing going on when a winner is choosen. It's really awful. I bet I can spot some shit posts in every Reddit account... we all are not innocent, sometimes we have bad days and you see it in the comments, sometimes we just go too far with a comment... and apart from that, it doesn't matter anyway what the winner did comment and where, the idea of the sub is to make one person lucky, we all have a chance. It's just plain wrong to complain.

I see what you're saying but I joined the sub because of the positive vibes. We have to hide everyone's posts now because people don't feel they're worthy of their one single dollar. I just don't think that the sub is the same as it was when I first subscribed and I don't think I'll be back for a while. I'll donate today/tomorrow whenever but I think I'll take a break and check in later.

Mods keep up what you're doing because you have been the only thing that stayed the same throughout this thing. Everyone elses attitudes towards the winners changed. Like, "I didn't win again? I'm going to find a reason NOT to donate." Just my opinion.

    People are crucifying the winner just because he posted ONCE on a not so ideal subreddit, and even downvoting people who were congratulating and donating ahead of time. Depending how much this winner gets, if this sub can actually put away their halos and donate a good enough amount I will continue to donate, but if its super low like last winner(just because he has a life) then there really isnt any point continuing doing this when people are so uptight and nit picky.

    People expect a perfect image from winners, almost making it seem like politics.

    I regret my judgmental tone elsewhere in this thread because I know it helped stir the pot. I dislike everything FPH stands for, but this isn't the place for airing that drama.

          This is the first draw I've participated in because it is the first time I've felt financially secure enough to hand over my cash to the winner. Salary is also irrelevant. I make a good living myself, but I HATE my job and would do anything to quit.             A suggestion if I may. You might try checking out hitbox.tv for streaming. They don't require content to be gaming, and though this doesn't fall exactly under their allowed list it can't hurt to ask. They have the upside of a mobile app and low latency so everyone can watch however they want.

                Yeah, I promised to donate 5 bucks this round. I will do that.

                Depending on how this all shakes down, at this point I will match my donation to Doctors Without Borders and may multiply that donation depending on how this all proceeds. Pay it forward and all that.

                Shame the controversy over this drawing keeps continuing.

                Then again, how many anonymous lottery tickets have I bought that have supported winners I wouldn't have ever wanted to win? Reddit does make it a bit more (and somehow less?) personal.

                Edit: keep thinking about that 17 yo kid that won, that I threw 5 bucks, and how I feel good about giving that kid a chance to pursue his future with less of a financial burden. Feels good. That's the personal aspect.

                He has only had 1 incident of commentating under a post in that subreddit over their 6 years. And it just happens to have happened recently.

                I would not think one could be too quick to judge a person from a single comment like so, or label them as a "/r/fatpeoplehate person" because of it.

                Of course, it's everyone's own choice to decide where their $1 goes, I just want to make sure people take a second thought before brushing it off.

                It's hard to decide, because of this exact reason. He may not have posted on there more, but his ONE post was quite a personality display for me. It wasn't a very tasteful comment and really struck a nerve, because I'm dealing with weight issues due to a health problem that I'm trying to get under control. I know that a lot of people may "think" like that, but writing it out, especially in that manner stings.

                i took a look at this 'vile comment' the winner made, and it appears that it was more of a joke than what everyone is making it out to be. it looks more like 'lol hey i have a friend that says what the title says, i should get this shirt for him'.

                there are a lot of subreddits that people browse that they never comment in, and you would never know they knew about them. the next winner could be a member of the KKK, or a NeoNazi; but never comment in any subreddit that is hate-group related. or make any mention to it otherwise.

                  I haven't mentioned it a lot as we've never come across a person who is controversial due to their history content. But I'd recommend that anyone who decides against doing so, find another, either person, or charity to quickly donate their dollar to.

                  However, yes, if one could look past judging all, that's definitely in spirit of our subreddit.

This user was a well-established account with plenty of activity, and has been a part of multiple draws, but one of the mods decided to stir up trouble. I'm donating to /u/gothrus, but I've got some thinking to do about whether I come back next month.

Everyone knows that some users will find an excuse to not donate and post about it, but he essentially condoned the choice by putting it as part of the actual winner post. It was one post in response to a thread about a shirt. I think it took the criticism too far to put it in the announcement.

                              ChangeTip is easiest assuming you have enough in your account.                               This whole picking and scrutinizing the winner's history apart scares me. Even though I don't have much comment/vote history, I don't know if I would be comfortable with people judging me based on something I wrote awhile back. I'm beginning to wonder if winning is really worth the scrutiny and judgments that the winners will be receiving?

                              The winner was chosen randomly, he/she was lucky. Whether he/she is deserving of it or not, this person won and we should donate to them if we are able to. I think If we continue with the pick and choose of who we think is deserving of our donation, less and less people will want to participate in the future.
