There's a key difference between heart surgery and augmenting the genome.

We risk creating a population that sees all other non-modified humans as "inferior."

lol at the people that have never read "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep"

You are joking right?

I don't think so... seems they didn't read the article

Excellent rebutta- oh wait, no you didn't rebutt a thing.

I'll continue to await a reply from someone that has an actual point to make, and ignore the opinions of morons.

Nuclear energy is a great thing however nuclear bombs are a terrible thing that has happened to society. The point is every advancement will have a good and bad side but that does not mean we should stop our research. Whether we like it or not gene modification is in our future. Currently it is being used to help babies but it can also be used to create super soldier. The point as I mentioned earlier is you have a right to be afraid but do not let that keep you from going forward. Hell for all we know all the governments have already been doing this for years.

Yeah, people who are made immune to certain diseases will totally look down on everyone else, so there's no way its worth it. /s

thanks for the /s, I never would have picked up on your thick-headed, tone without that helpful abbreviation. That was very useful, I appreciate it.

Have you ever considered the risk of a population that is genetically modified in relation to their identity compared to the rest of humanity? I didn't think so.

Hey guys, we've got a shoo-in for Starfleet Command over here.

So... X-Men?

[–]splendid_knight -5 ポイント-4 ポイント  (3子コメント)

No, Eugenics. Google the Nazis, or just Eugenics so you get an idea of the potential end game here. This is dangerous territory we've just started treading.

[–]SeudonymousKhan 3 ポイント4 ポイント  (2子コメント)

Eugenics has nothing to do with genetic manipulation. It is all about selective breeding. Maybe you should google it yourself before telling others to.

Master races have nothing to do with selective breeding

There are tons of differences, but not with respect to the analogy i made.

We risk creating a population that sees all other non-modified humans as "inferior."

I'm willing to do that for your right now. No need for risk. I'm a population member that definitely sees the presence of life threatening congenital illnesses as worse than the absence of them.

Please try to stop a cardiac surgeon trying to correct a ventricular septal defect in an infant because you feel like there is a risk of seeing children with too many holes in their heart as "inferior". I love that you put the quotation marks there yourself by the way. It's almost like you already sensed the irony.

Your inability to see the grey area of the consequences of your world-view must be very comforting for you.

My quotation marks spun off of people that claimed to have worked on this project that claimed what I said, word for word. I can't wait to see pussies defending the extermination of autists and sperglords for their lack of social skills in 150 years because they don't associate as well as the rest of the master race. Enjoy living on the 'right' side of history with your arbitrary definition of what is 'good' and 'bad.'

Yea, I remember when my grandpa got a pace maker. Straight away he started looking down on us mere mortal meat sacks.

Übermensch

I don't think you know what that word means.

[–]splendid_knight -1 ポイント0 ポイント  (1子コメント)

I double checked Google, so rest assured I know what it means.

Ubermensch for dummies version for little, old, you is a person that is spared the trials of a normal person by the virtue of their own genetic or mental advantages. Hope that helps, sugartits ;)

See, wasn't so hard. Now you just need to get into the habit of using Google before pretending you know what you're talking about.
