Hi there.

I'm the mod who approved this post when it was reported.

Also, how is this even following sub rules?

Which rule do you feel it violated? I mean, this video is "about Seattle", and while it was produced by Amazon the video is about Seattle and isn't an advertisement for Amazon, so I am not sure where you have a problem with it being permitted on the sub. Can you help me understand?

Most of the posts that are valid but don't adhere to our admittedly strict sub rules get removed immediately, but shit bashing some stupid video is completely okay while staying completely irrelevant to news and current events as well as civil discourse...

Comments bashing the video are discourse about it. Where the mod team steps in is when someone is abusing someone else in the comments, or breaking the rules of reddiquette. Note that abusing a user or a person is very different than bashing the video.

I am always happy to discuss mod team decisions and thought processes. Please do give us your point of view on this.

Civil discourse...I don't see how saying GTFO or Fuck Y'all is civil discourse. As Fara's breaking sub rules...I don't really care about that, but it has long been contested and shown that anything that isn't "new or current events" gets removed unless it's a sunset picture.

I'm not saying it is. I'm saying that the mod team doesn't censor folks for saying "GTFO" or "Fuck y'all" about a video.

it has long been contested and shown that anything that isn't "new or current events" gets removed unless it's a sunset picture.

Here's the top 10 of /r/Seattle right now:

  1. Missing 20 year old from Tacoma: Aubrey Moss (i.imgur.com)
  2. It ALWAYS rains in Seattle. Never come here. (imgur.com)
  3. Seattle ranks No.1 in conversion to Credit Unions (seattletimes.com)
  4. List of "must-see" events/fairs in Seattle (and surrounding areas) with 2015 dates. (self.Seattle)
  5. Anyone remember The Great Seattle Samurai Standoff of 97’ when this guy, calling himself Apollo and armed with a badass samurai sword, had an 11-hour standoff with the cops at 2nd and Pike? (imgur.com)
  6. New bill targets slow left-lane drivers (mynorthwest.com)
  7. Mt Rainier looks like a Painting [fixed] (i.imgur.com)
  8. A comic about Washington state's Medical Marijuana (boingboing.net)
  9. Average price of legal pot drops to about $12 a gram (seattletimes.com)
  10. For the first time I actually saw the artist that does the outside of Easy Street Records today. (imgur.com)

Please show me where this supposed overpopulation of sunset photos is located. I am having trouble seeing it.

Oh how nice of you.. Like hell you don't! What exactly does "the mod team" (i.e. you) censor then? You've called people and censored them for being jerks which none of the above qualify?

The hypocrisy is beyond belief, man. ◔_◔

If you'd like to discuss a specific user's comment or post removal, please, by all means, let me know which one(s) concern you and I'll happily tell you the reasoning for the removal.

I'll happily tell you the reasoning for the removal.

So why do you ignore questions to mod-mail, again?

But you know, you keep repeating this every time you're criticized for this. Why don't you happily (!) tell us all your "reasoning" for post and comment removals and bans. Better yet, POST IT CLEARLY ON THE SIDEBAR.

So people here can at least understand your mental process. Because it seems random and inconsistent with no basis in sanity. No, the "be good" nonsense you have there doesn't cut it if your then going to claim your "mod team doesn't censor folks for saying "GTFO" or "Fuck y'all"" in order mislead people into portraying yourself as somehow (pseudo) balanced.

What user asked the question? What was the question? I would be happy to tell you why we ignore some users in modmail, but you've got to be able to tell me who we are talking about.

Are you going to tell us which user you're so upset about?

"Please show me where this supposed overpopulation of sunset photos is located. I am having trouble seeing it."

There is that passive aggressiveness we all love! Wait till three days of rain and then a clear night, your sunset photos will be a plenty.

It was an honest observation, backed up with actual data. How do you suggest I disagree with this person in a manner more acceptable to you?

Wait till three days of rain and then a clear night, your sunset photos will be a plenty.

Please feel free to screen shot the next time /r/Seattle's front page has "too many" sunset photos. I have yet to see any evidence of this supposed problem. The only complainers about this problem in the past who have shown any kind of data about it in the past were looking at /r/Seattle/new. If you use the default sort of "Hot", the voting system removes all but one or two of these kinds of posts.

But hey, feel free to prove me wrong. You know, with data, facts and evidence - not just insults.

Please, please, please do not claim you just supplied data for a comment by taking a screen shot at one point of the day during the entire year. That is a complete farce of the word data.

Also, he is commenting on sunset shots getting submitted not voted into the top 20. So, you know if you wanna talk about data...please understand how data works.

Really? How the heck do you know that? Here's the original comment:

it has long been contested and shown that anything that isn't "new or current events" gets removed unless it's a sunset picture.

So... unless you are also /u/A_Mad_Max_, how do you know that /u/A_Mad_Max_ meant that?

As I said above, please feel free to put forward your own evidence of this being a problem - so far you've only proven that you can be rude.

It seems to me that if your problem is that there are too many sunset photos are being submitted, but you concede they are not getting into the top 20 posts when sorted by "Hot", well... then you've figured out how to fix the problem, now haven't you?

Maybe you should stop viewing /r/Seattle/new if it makes you so angry to see all those pretty pictures of sunsets? Feel free to only browse the front page of /r/Seattle. Problem solved! Now you can be a happier person!

[–]diditforthecomment 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

I know that because no where in his statement did he say front page. But you created that out of thin air in your attempt to "prove" him wrong by only listing the top 20 posts.

I have no problem with sunset photos just the fact that you use irrelevant information to try and prove a point in a snarky passive aggressive way. I made a joke about passive aggressiveness, since the PNW is known for it, and you retaliated. I only became "rude" when you claimed you used data, when in fact you pulled a red hearing by using irrelevant information to try and drive home a point.
