Hands up if large groups of aggressively loud white boys in your vicinity freak you out

One of the things that bonds women, POC, and LGBTQA+ together: The fear of white men in numbers.

Um, a large group of any people freak me out. It’s not because theyre white or male.

Im not saying it doesnt bother me, I’m saying more than that particular group bothers me. Last time I checked, I am a woman so the whole ‘bonds women’ thing does make this apply to me. Why point out the race of it? Or gender? People have problems with groups of their own color or gender of their own. Thats all I’m saying. You can hate white males all you want, I just don’t agree with the extremes of the prejudice towards it most of the time.

1. Nobody said other groups can’t bother you. that’s not the point.

2. Nobody cares if you’re a woman. that’s not the point.

3. This point isn’t about “problems” (whatever that means) between individuals OR within communities. that’s not the point.

4. Nobody said anything about “hating” white males (lmao).  that’s not the point.

5. The point is that white males possess privilege over women and/or people of color that enables them to act out any prejudices they may have against those groups- be it through creating a hostile environment for other groups through microaggressions, verbal or sexual harassment, or even outright violence. They are also socialized in a way that encourages them to behave in this way, without any criticism or accountability. 

6. If you’ve never personally experienced the negative impact of institutionalized sexism and racism, GOOD FOR YOU. NO ONE CARES. Other people have been forced to “point out the race and gender of it” because they experience it on a regular basis and developed a fear response because of it. That is not prejudice. That is not “hate”. For you to say it is, is deeply fucking insensitive to people who have had experiences that you have not.
