Rashida Strober, a self-described “dark skin activist” and “Expert on Dark Skin female Issues,” is calling for the boycott of Kendrick Lamar because his girlfriend and is not dark enough.
Despite the fact that Mr. Lamar’s girlfriend is black, Strober believes that his choice of a light-skinned black woman makes him a “fake” and he should therefore be boycotted. She made her sentiments known in an expletive-laced Facebook post:
Despite the fact that men and women are allowed to choose who they want to date, Strober believes that Mr. Lamar should be judged based on the color of the skin of his significant other.
Other people on Facebook immediately called Strober out for her stunning hypocrisy:
Ms. Strober’s other Facebook posts show more ignorance and racism:
Strober is currently trying to raise money for a “US & International DarkSkin is Beautiful Campaign,” in which she will travel, spreading her ideology. She describes her movement as “The first beauty and self-esteem campaign/movement in the history of the world for dark skin women and girls!”
She writes about her and her campaign on GoFundMe, saying, “I am the dark skinned activist, Rashida Strober. Before Social Media, and the prevalence of the internet I have been advocating for the beauty of dark skin women and girls from a grassroots level.”
She continues, “We can no longer sit by while the world continues to ignore the beauty of dark skin. We can no longer sit by watching the billion dollar skin lightening industry consume the self esteem of dark skin beauty on an international scale. I realized that I must use my God given talents and lived experiences as a dark skin woman to propel the dark skin is beautiful campaign to the next level.”
So far, over 9 months, Strober has raised a meager $703. Her goal is one million dollars.
Well that’s a horse of a different color eh?
