So after I made my post about Pacific Rim and the Bechdel Test, I was followed by a Twitter account called Bechdel Bot, which led me to this lovely site, Watch This Instead. I entered my favourite film, one which received a great deal of praise for its strong female lead, and this was the result.
It seems to insinuate that any film not passing the test isn’t worth watching, insisting instead that you spend your time watching a film that does. This an incredibly inane and narrow-minded to judge entire films.
Sorry Watch This Instead, but I will not be taking you up on your suggestion to watch four Michael Bay movies before Pacific Rim.
