Right then, rather than ban something that's been a British tradition since 1839 why not reduce the number of racers and get rid of some of the more challenging jumps.

She said that there "are clearly animal rights issues that need to be addressed" regarding the Grand National. I think that suggests that she and her party would be quite alright with the Grand National making adjustments to the course which will kill fewer horses.

I think I've heard suggestions of reducing the field to 30 horses, making it less likely a fallen horse or jockey could be trampled on.

It's a title, it's much more attention grabbing to say that it could be banned rather than "there are issues which need to be addressed".

We've had a lot of traditions we've since got rid of.

Somewhat keeping black people as slaves is no longer accepted.
