I want people to take note of a female scholar that has dedicated her life to women’s studies being called “trash” by someone who probably still lives out of their parents’ wallets.

We’re talking about a highly educated woman that used to be a philosophy professor.  The National Women’s Political Caucus (founded by Gloria Steinem) awarded Sommers with an Exceptional Merit in Media Award in 2013.

But, because she deals in facts rather than hollow emotional pleas, flagrant lies, and mass hysteria, she’s “trash” to these fearful, bitter little girls that hijacked the label of “feminist” just so they can use it as an excuse to justify whining about why guys won’t go out with them (rather than, you know…accepting the fact that maybe the problem is you). 

She was a feminist long before you were even a twinkle in your mother’s uterus.  You think that just because you came along and wrote on the label in crayon and screamed, “This is MINE now!”, that you can just decide who is or is not “allowed” to be a feminist by your woefully uneducated definition?  I don’t think so, hon.  The cockroach doesn’t get to kick the rightful owners out of their own home.

Don’t claim to promote gender equality until you actually understand what it really means.  People like you are the reason she has since placed the word “equity” before the word “feminist” in reference to her political stance.

The only thing you’ve accomplished in your response is just further proving that nothing these days is more misogynistic and anti-woman than third-wave “feminism”.

Looks like somebody here missed the part about being commended by an organization founded by Gloria Steinem.  Pretty sure Steinem knows a lot more about feminism than you do.  There’s also quite the difference between just being “older”, and being educated.  Funny how you’re so keen to overlook the fact of having decades of legitimate study and credentials behind their name.  And, once again:  Neither you, nor any of the “feminists” of tumblr have done a single goddamn thing for women.  You just came along, claimed the title for yourselves, and then tried to take credit for the accomplishments of those who came long before you.  We won’t even get into the sheer audacity of walking freshly into a movement with zero proper education, and then trying to decide who is or is not “allowed” to participate in it.  Do you pull that shit anywhere else, I wonder?  Do you walk into a doctor’s office, and try to decide who should and should not have a medical license, based solely on hearsay from a fuckin’ social media site?  You’d get laughed the fuck out of that office faster than a fat kid chases an ice cream truck.

If you are marginalizing any human being over ANY aspect of their humanity—be it age, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.—you are not supporting equality.  In fact, I’d say you’re actively against it.

This post points out the tremendous advantage women have over men in the criminal justice system.

“Rape culture”?  Bullshit.  Even the leading organization devoted to the aid of rape victims no longer wishes for “rape culture” to be taught on college campuses, and I’m pretty goddamn sure they know a lot more about this issue than YOU do.

Guess what?  Women could vote before feminism.

Little girls at a disadvantage in the classroom?  Even the organization that started the “Ban Bossy” campaign had conflicting data about this ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE.

And here are a few rebuttals to pretty much any other argument you might try to whip out.

Now, please…give us your sources.  We’ll be waiting while you completely avoid doing so because you don’t have any.

If you’re a woman trying to invalidate another woman’s noted accomplishments in a movement simply because you can’t tolerate that cold, hard facts are throwing a gigantic bucket of ice water all over your little “Boys have COOTIES!” parade, then you are—without a doubt—NOT a feminist:  You are an overgrown child looking for an excuse to justify acting like a glorified chauvinist pig.

Oh, and a little FYI:  If you are using any kind of coding that boots a user to a different blog without their control, that goes against tumblr’s Terms of Service, and can be grounds for your blog being terminated by staff.

Have you noticed how feminists in general are more willing to actively badmouth feminists who criticize other feminists then they are the “radical feminists” who they keep insisting totally don’t represent the movement?

I wonder why.
