To the People who Bullied Xkit Guy

I fucking hate you all who participated into bullying Xkit guy off this shit hole of a website, because he was trying so hard to make this website a better place and for free and what did you guys do in return? You chased him of the internet because of a false rape accusation that had no fucking evidence what so fucking ever. It’s so damn funny when I see you all begging and giving an half-assed apology to Xkit guy in order for him to come back. You all don’t deserve Xkit guy. All you guys deserve is the Tumblr staff’s half-assed attempt of an update. I’m not even going to say, “I hope you all learned your lesson” because that would be a wishful fucking thinking if I expect you guys to change! You all are nothing but bullies and you all need to get off the damn internet and think about what you’re doing because when you do shit like this, it is fucking harming people and their reputation and if you don’t give a fuck, well then I hope you have a shitty life because what you did is inexcusable.

Only this time not only has an innocent man been forced into a mental breakdown and his life and reputation possibly ruined by a bunch of mindless barbarians who think they’re righteous crusaders, we may be left at the mercy of whatever godawful update staff has in store for us in the future with no way to fix it.

Just the shitty icing on the toxic cake that is this godawful website’s godawful community.

Ok go pop in your fucking contacts before I continue because clearly you weren’t wearing those bitches when you read my post.

Never in my entire post did I say that I 100% think the xkit guy is innocent. Fact is, not a damn person on this site knows whether or not he is innocent except for him and whoever made the accusation.  BUT I’m not going to say he is guilty either because the fact is outside of that accusation from a friend of a friend there is so far not a damn thing pointing to him being guilty and it has been months since the accusation was made.  The accuser has chosen not to provide any proof and not a single person has come forward stating that he has done or said anything to them.

SO

Because of this serious lack of proof I also cannot take the victims side by saying that she is telling the truth because once again I and everyone else has no fucking idea if what she stated is true or not because SHE chose not to provide any evidence (which is 100% ok) and no one else has come forward to confirm that he is indeed the type of person he is being accused of.  This whole thing is a giant fucking he said she said situation.

Right now I am taking the side of PEOPLE NEED TO FACT CHECK! I’m sick and tired of seeing people blow the fuck up on anyone who has an accusation thrown at them without actually checking if that accusation is true or not. Now I’m not saying the accused is always going to tell the truth, but for fucks sake after all of the made up bullshit that has happened over the years it’s dumb as fuck to just assume that everything you hear is true, especially on a website like this where people jump at any opportunity to rip people to shreds. 

Now as far as this whole taking xkit guys side because he is my fave or anyone elses fave.  It’s called doing our research and not jumping to mother fucking conclusions based on one anon comment that was never backed up with proof or supported by others coming forward.  Do I think xkit guy is amazing for everything he has done for this god forsaken constantly changing shit storm of a website? Yes. But you best believe I would not hesitate to throw his ass under the bus if I found out that he was truly guilty of what he has been accused of because I do not play those games no matter how good of a person I may have considered him to be. On that note.

“Xkit guy’s last three tumblr posts, dating 1-2 November 2014”

I’m hoping by now many of you would have heard about Atesh (or better known as the creator of Xkit/saviour of tumblr updates). If not, in short, an innocent man who spent his own time and effort for free into creating a better tumblr environment for the rest off the world was driven off tumblr through abusive messages. He was accused, without proof, by one anon message through the Abusers and Predators blog, which began the abuse against him, and eventually cause him to leave tumblr.

Although the damage has already been done, and I simply cannot do nothing. I have only heard of this news this week. Like many of the posts, i say that his blogs have yet to be deactivated. The least we could all do is back him up with positive and encouraging messages, even if he never comes back.

Please at least spread this information, so more people are aware. This is absolutely awful, and no-one deserves this.

Everyone reacts to what happened to the xkit guy by saying “tumblr, you’re so stupid.” I did it too. It was my first reaction, to yell that tumblr is stupid… but I don’t think that accomplishes anything. We are tumblr. Talking about ourselves in the third person does nothing except reinforce that we as individuals weren’t involved, which, if we are not the kind of person to send hate messages, probably none of our followers thought we were anyway. It’s an unhelpful action all around. 

What I really want to do is apologize to the xkit guy on behalf of the tumblr userbase, since I am part of tumblr, and so it might mean something to him. To him, as he doesn’t know us, we are all an undifferentiated mass known as “the tumblr userbase”, and an apology from the tumblr culture that brewed this toxic trouble might mean something.

I’m sorry, xkit guy. For being part of this environment that hurt you.

There’s a big difference between a woman coming out about being raped/sexually abused by using her name or even username and a person sending an anonymous message to a callout blog. Tumblr needs to learn that there is a difference between victim blaming and not trusting one anon’s word without evidence.

honestly if there was a post going around like “someone told me tumblr user sxizzor is a rapist does anyone have evidence or anything” i’d be mad at the person lying and probably the people sending me anon hate as well, but not at the person who believed the story and posted about it, not at the people reblogging it, not at the people who were wary about me because of it

i know what people get away with when accusations are dismissed outright and i don’t blame anyone for taking one seriously

so i’m not sure why this logic is so hard to apply to a guy whom your incentives for defending consist of “he makes your favorite browser extension” and “it’s something of a meme to talk about how great he is”

I haven’t posted much about this (or anything really) but this is really important.

Everyone has been jumping on the xkit-guy for these allegations (which haven’t been proven, go figure). The problem with this is that there’s no proof. This is tumblr’s hive mentality. You’re destroying some programmer’s live over something you read over the internet.

The only words I think should be known about this is Ei incumbit probatio qui dicit, non qui negat (the burden of proof is on he who declares, not on he who denies)

"nothing happened" "you're just making it up" "why would you ruin this poor boy/man's bright future??" reblogging a post that in black and white calls everything a lie and pure fabrication? that is extremely biased. i hope you remember every single time you reblog something like that... victims of rape are reading. and they are hurting.

Maybe you missed the point of the post. It was attacking tumblr’s mob-mentality way of handling situations where accusations of sexual assault and the like are made erroneously. Not victims of actual rape and sexual assault. I think you should go back and re-read it a bit because you might find that you are on their side. Wouldn’t you agree that someone “crying wolf” about rape hurts the entire community of rape and sexual assault survivors who did not get due justice against their attacker(s)? It discredits the entire movement, and it especially hurts male victims of rape who generally have a harder time of getting heard in the first place. 

The “xkit guy” as everyone calls him gave out his free service to fix this website so why someone would falsely accuse him of such a thing is beyond me. I saw another post earlier saying the accusation was sent to an abuse help blog, without sources. The blog was looking into it when everyone decided to take the accusation as truth before fact checking. The blog later gave a statement saying they did not want this to happen and were sorry for a false accusation being let out.

now lets look at your message here for a second. “get a +1 from you” is diction I have never seen on this website. Also, I liked AND reblogged that post… So after that I started to suspect this was copied and pasted. You also are very accusatory and condescending. Never good for trying to get your point across without ending up being abusive yourself. You could have easily started a conversation with me about the post if you had actually wanted more information or cared enough to look into the situation a bit more.

Also I usually only get asks from my followers, and if you really are this angry you probably would have unfollowed right? Well my follower count hasn’t gone down.

SO I suspect you’ve just been sending these to people that have reblogged/liked the post to guilt trip them into ignoring facts like you have. The post was in no way vicim blaming. Hell, as far as I heard there weren’t even any victims confirmed by the official blog whose purpose it is to get confirmation. 


But you won’t see any of this because like I said, it’s all copied and pasted.

Thanks for making me turn of anon tho I don’t want to bother with drama like this.

For those who don’t know, when I talk about “what happened to the XKit guy”, I’m referring to this post. Flags itself as “potential predator alert” even though it’s actually asking for evidence. No evidence whatsoever just yet, right?

Understandably, somebody sent an ask through, and the blog responded with this. Now, I don’t know about you, but a few things stick out about this post…

“we unfortunately haven’t received any submissions/asks on him at this point in time” I think this speaks for itself.

“seeing that he’s a popular user on this website” This was the one that made me snap. Hey, XKit guy’s popular, XKit guy’s well-known and beloved by the Tumblr community, let’s out him as a predator! Wouldn’t that be cool and edgy and controversial?!?!?!?!?!

One claim, which can’t be released, and the rumours started flying. And, from what I’ve gathered, the XKit guy received so many hate messages that he has now had a breakdown and won’t be updating the extension any more.

If you spread any of these rumours when they dropped, and you’re complaining now about the new update and how you want it fixed, I’m sorry, but you brought this on yourself.
