Is this supposed to be the new thing Conservatives are "afraid of" for not believing that sex change is possible?

I've laughed at the absurdity of transgenders and felt sorry for their acts of self mutilation, but never has a man in short skirt nickers and stockings illicited a response of fear.

These people are literally prisoners to their own body. That's why they choose to undergo the surgery. Because they need to correct their bodies.

I might be able to buy the argument on orientation, but to legitimately change ones sex is scientifically impossible in this day and age. Their organs, pelvis and chromosomes that determine sex, will always be the ones they were born with.

Not entirely. Hormone treatment is a viable method, and sex reassignment surgery can be successful. Also, future scientific advances may one day make childbearing possible.

Also, a person's genitalia do not determine their gender. Their brain does. If they truly feel they are the opposite gender, then they are.

The sad thing is a good number of them commit suicide after having their surgery because you cannot change your body at the level they want. they want to be a woman and have babies but can't because they only have the outer appearance.

Also, doesn't those "brain scans" prove that males and females are different? Boy feminists will blow a gasket

It is indeed sad. That's why transsexuals need our support. They shouldn't be bullied, mocked, and berated. They should be accepted for the gender that they truly feel that they are.

Thanks for adding to the transphobia, by the way. Should I have titled this 'This Jackass Doesn't Understand Trans People at all or the Science Behind GRS'? Because apparently adding to the bias in my title might help with getting others hopping mad about the subject at hand. This shouldn't be an acceptable comment in a sub like that. Trans people shouldn't be on any part of the political spectrum, they should simply be people. I thought /r/conservative was a place of inclusion, but I suppose it isn't.

The Left seems to have a patent on creating new phobias. Can I make one up too? I believe I'll call it,

"Christphobia: antagonistic attitudes and feelings against the Christian religion and Christian people. An emotional disgust, fear, anger or discomfort felt or expressed towards traditional Christian beliefs and people who do not conform to society's secular expectations."

That would be a pretty encompassing word for a lot of leftists don't you think?

I don't see what's so phobic about this comment. He parodied commonly known progressive arguments; that one cannot change their sexual orientation but they can change their sex. Are you saying he got the progressive point of view wrong?

He just unloaded a shit ton of 'I'm a raging asshole with huge prejudices against trans people and gay people and here let me try to equate the two without understanding that it is two different concepts'. Gay people are born gay. Trans people are born in a different body, mentally. This has been medically proven. It has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with understanding the science behind it without trying to beat people over the head with your lack of knowledge. If you want to really go for the 'out on a limb' approach, you can try to dismiss science or something, but thanks for just confirming what I thought. I'm honestly impressed, first you were pedantic and then you completely deflected when I gave you the WP definition of transphobia. Now you're saying he's joking.

Since were getting scientific here, am I to assume that you believe a person can change their sex? Because that is a very unscientific statement that just is not supported by the facts. To slander those facts and truths as an example of " transphobia" is a pretty desperate way of rebuttal.

My contention is not whether or not they actually suffer from gender dysphoria, but wether or not that dysphoria physically makes them into their perceived sex. And here you are, slinging accusation's of "transphobia" on anyone who dares point out the obvious.
