Try Over The Wire or even Ringzer0 CTF.

It's a shame HTS and HBH are dead, they used to be quite fun!

RingZer0Team.com is my favorite at the moment, otherwise there is https://backdoor.sdslabs.co/, hmwyc.org, https://www.vulnhub.com/ and few others that are worth checking once in a while.

If you're getting tired of these "challenges", you can participate in CTF's online and get in a more competitive aspect.

Backdoor organizer here. I think participating in CTFs is the best practice you can get. ctftime.org is a good resource for these.

Enigma Group.

Edit: /u/Faps_McTickle corrected me on missing http:// prefix.

I used to visit Enigma Group too. It's not what it used to be nowdays, but still in better condition than HTS and HBH...

Maybe those kind of challenges (realistic, basic, etc) are somewhat obsolete now. People are downloading some vulnerable virtual machine and try to hack there.

Wechall.net is a very good challenge site with ties (aggegrator) to other challenge sites.

Like.. ehm.. mine (net-force.nl). :p But also rankk.org, revolutionelite.co.uk are very active.
