There are laws in place that make farms kill whatever the animal may be in a non-cruel way. I can't think of the term right now because it's 2:00 AM and I don't even want to be arguing with someone as wrong as you.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it does and it sucks but lots of farms operate correctly. "Without hurting the animal." Well, the animal has to die so do you define that as hurt? If you kill an animal slowly and in a cruel way, it's going to be stressed and freaking out which ruins the meat.

The energy required for muscle activity in the live animal is obtained from sugars (glycogen) in the muscle. In the healthy and well-rested animal, the glycogen content of the muscle is high. After the animal has been slaughtered, the glycogen in the muscle is converted into lactic acid, and the muscle and carcass becomes firm (rigor mortis). This lactic acid is necessary to produce meat, which is tasteful and tender, of good keeping quality and good colour. If the animal is stressed before and during slaughter, the glycogen is used up, and the lactic acid level that develops in the meat after slaughter is reduced. This will have serious adverse effects on meat quality.

Oh my god... Do you even know what you posted? You posted a video of improper procedure. So yes, of course that video is still cruel. That's why that place is in trouble. Read what's posted in the description for crying out loud.

we require answers to the following areas of concern:

Use of "pithing" of horses which is known to render an animal immobile but not unconscious when stabbed for bleed-out

Length of suffering inflicted on horses repeatedly shot (up to 3 1/2 minutes for horse 33 on day 1)

Mishandling of a "downed" animal (the downer horse shown during the walk-through who was not penned alone or euthanized)

Fraudulent EID activity

Lack of CFIA inspector presence

We would also like to address our concerns regarding the design of the knock box that was raised in our report. It is plainly evident that there is no provision made, besides a flimsy plastic curtain, for horses to avoid viewing the bleed-out/butchering room. Many horses looked inside past the curtain (that was sometimes left open) and this understandably elevated their fear levels. Also evident was the fact that larger draft breeds did not fit into the small dimensions of the knock box, causing many of them to hit their heads on the overhead stanchion. It was also these large draft types that more often required multiple shots to render them unconscious. In addition, the shooter had to reach up to these larger horses, causing him to shoot at the wrong angle, which is supposed to be from the top down, not reaching up high over his head to try to obtain the right angle.

THEYRE DOING SHIT COMPLETELY WRONG. NO WONDER ITS CRUEL. If they were doing shit correctly, there wouldn't be an outrage and it wouldn't be cruel because death would be instant and painless.

And plus, now your comparing pneumatic tools to a regular hand held hammer and your arm swinging it, in your original example of beating a bird to death with a hammer after you jizzed on it. You're comparing that to a specifically designed pneunamic tool which is designed to be efficient and and painless if used properly. You're getting so off base.

I used to think like you do. I used to think that all of the meat that I ate came from "good" farms, and that I wasn't doing anything morally wrong. The problem is that even these "good" farms really aren't good at all. They still treat the animals pretty poorly, and I'm not saying that the place your mom bought from was bad, but even places that say "free range", "cage free", and "organic", can still treat the animals poorly. Also, the fact that today, as a society, we have the choice of eating meat, and we can easily survive without eating meat, that anybody who does eat meat is at least committing some moral fault. I don't mean to say this in a rude way. My point is that we can eat, beans, tofu, spinach, rice, and a lot of other things without involving meat, and it is not necessary for us to consume meat. Another thing that people don't consider about meat is that the grain to actual produced meat ratio is about 8:1. Meaning that it takes a huge amount of grain to produce meat, which can otherwise be eaten instead of producing the meat. Factory farming is terrible for the animals and the consumer, and it also greatly affects climate change. Cows release a lot of greenhouse gases, and our eating meat is not helping anything, including the environment. What I want to get across, is that everybody should consider vegetarianism or veganism because it can really help other animals, and we can try to stop the systematic slaughter of billions of animals every year.
