アメリカ大統領選に立候補を表明した共和党のランド・ポール上院議員

2016年に行われるアメリカ大統領選挙に向け、共和党のランド・ポール上院議員が4月7日、立候補を表明した。朝日新聞デジタルなどが報じた。

ランド・ポール氏は2008年の大統領選に立候補したロン・ポール下院議員の息子。ロン・ポール氏は徹底した「小さな政府」推進者で、イラク戦争にも一貫して反対するなど、共和党の中でも異色の存在として、特にインターネット上で大きな支持を得ていた。

息子のランド・ポール氏も若者層を中心に根強い人気があり、保守系の草の根政治団体「ティーパーティー（茶会）」の支持も厚い。

7日に地元ケンタッキー州で行われた演説でランド・ポール氏は「きょう、偉大なアメリカを取り戻す旅に出ます。アメリカの将来像をともに描きましょう」と述べた。


