Best Web Developer Job Boards? (self.webdev)

Hello,

I'm wondering what people find are some of the best resources for job listings for web development positions. I just want to try and find out about new resources that I may not already be checking.

I really like Authenticjobs.com. Seems to be more direct hiring, companies focused on knowing what they need. Good variation of jobs and skills on there.

I applied to my current job through Authentic Jobs, by far my favorite and my most recommended along with StackOverflow. I would definitely avoid craigslist and reddit for jobs unless you're really desperate. AJ and SO employers are vetted and I've yet to see any "bad" jobs or sketchy stuff on either, plus you know you can find specific web dev positions and don't have to wade through other software dev positions that have nothing to do with you.

Plus AJ is run by Cameron Moll who is a big part of the front-end community.

I didnt know who built it, but thats awesome.

I feel that if you are in a bind and need quick money, you can pick up a quick job on /r/forhire. Not the greatest by far, but like I said, if you need quick cash, its a decent place to go.

Yeah sorry that's a good point +1, I didn't mean to make it sound like that subreddit isn't a good place, I guess because I found my full-time job at AJ I just assumed that OP was looking for a full-time gig too. Especially if they're looking for single projects or contract work they could definitely have better luck at /r/forhire.

Don't know why but I have had the most luck getting work through Craigslist. I've already been put off by Dice because 50% of the jobs are just using third party recruiters as a front.

I actually have never used Dice, but I haven't seen the recruiter spam problems in AuthenticJobs FWIW (also haven't been there in a long time though).

I have recently used SO for applying to jobs and they look of better quality than Dice, or at least the signal-to-noise ratio is better.

I've been using a local recruiter very successfully since 2008 (been placed 2x). Last time I looked around myself, indeed seemed to be the best thing out there. Granted, it's been years since I checked it out but I still hear it brought up in casual conversation from other devs every now and then.

I never found any decent leads/gigs on Craiglist, but again, it's been years since I've looked.

I found my current position through dice. So perhaps adding more general job posting sites to the list might not be a bad idea.

I forgot all about Dice! I thought the quality of postings degraded and sort of turned into a Monster.com-esque free-for-fall. I'll give it another shot since its been a few years!

I also applied directly to the company from a posting they made and didn't go through recruiters. Be warned once you post a resume on dice you will be bothered by recruiters for what seems like forever...

I got my current position through Dice. I applied directly to a company, went through two interviews and then got hired. The day before I started, I got a call from a recruiting company asking if I want them to present me for a position at the company I got hired at for the position I got hired for.

I found like about 40-50% of the company names listed for my area are recruiting agencies I recognized :-o

I just got hired and found my position through GlassDoor. Although there are a bunch of crappy recruiters on there...If you can filter them out then you'll be able to find quality jobs.

LinkedIn is were I have gotten my last four jobs. All contract except one, but all quality places of employment

Thanks guys for this thread. Its got great info in it! Really helping my job search in Austin. Problem is, I'm not living in Austin yet, need to find a job first.

it's tough for sure. I live in NYC but moved here 5 years ago for my first job. I know that job hunting can suck especially if you don't live in that area already.
