Fwd: FWD: fwd: Fwd: Aren't these taxes getting out of control?

Seeing since the average person works until June 1st for free, yes. They are out of control.

America's Tax revenue as a percentage of GDP was actually the fourth lowest in the OECD in 2013. And besides, an armed forces, police, education, a working democracy, welfare and a functioning infrastructure aren't free.

armed forces

Coming from someone going into them, we could do a whole lot better with a whole lot less.

police

Fucking sucks in the US lately

education

We're getting pretty crappy compared to other developed nations.

a working democracy

Doesn't need money. Actually, it needs less of it in government.

welfare

Charity works multitudes better than government welfare. Also, why should I be forced to pay for someone else?

functioning infrastructure

I forgot about all those projects that the federal government let the private sector partake in to build their own...oh wait.

Oh yes, the entire process for voting is entirely free. Also, government officials require no money, they live off the ballots.

Voting requires paper and someone to count it.

And you seem to be under the impression that we need a government have democracy.

And buildings for voting to take place.

Democracy = Government

Direct democracy? Everybody is a part of the government, the system of governance.

Democracy =! A federal government.

Also, TIL that private entities can't build buildings.

Your inner child is showing.

Democracy = central government. The federal government we've got is pretty much the best one. As sad as that may be, it's true.

The government (federal, state, and local) often contracts building projects and infrastructure repairs to private entities.

And there are a lot of things that private entities can't really provide. I'd love to see a privately owned, managed, and repaired interstate system. Privately owned money would be cool, too. Why bother selling stuff when you can just print more?

Even with the majority of things that private companies can provide, there are still regulations that need to be implemented to keep the company from A: taking advantage of the people (monopoly) B: damaging other corporations, individuals, or the environment.

coming from someone going into them.

My car payments are about 15% of my income. This means I work exclusively for the car financing company from January 1st until Feburary 23rd every year. Holy shit!

My rent is about 50% of my income. This means that I work from February 24th until August 24th every year for my landlord, that bloodsucking slavedriver.

My Nikes cost like $200. That's three days the motherfuckers at Nike took off me! They may as well put me in a sweatshop!

(In other words, your logic sucks.)

His logic is sound. Those things you describe paying for are voluntary interactions. The IRS will force you at gunpoint to pay your taxes or go to prison, which is about the complete opposite of voluntary interaction.

I'm talking about the logic that a regular %age of something is the same as front-loading. It's not.

It is just a means to illustrate the percentage.

For most of us, taxes aren't a payment for services rendered. They are taken despite what we use from "society." Therefore, you are paying for something that you aren't reaping a benefit from, hence, working for free.

You're using a computer made possible by services already rendered, you've obviously gotten some sort of education, though I will admit it was definitely not the best, as is evidenced by your inability to understand what life would be like without any government.

Yea fuck freedom!

You're using a computer made possible by services already rendered

I've already paid for the computer I'm using. I wasn't forced to buy it.

, you've obviously gotten some sort of education, though I will admit it was definitely not the best, as is evidenced by your inability to understand what life would be like without any government.

I'm simply advocating for a form of government where it is voluntary, aka not forcing someone at gunpoint to pay for things they don't want to.

You are free to renounce your citizenship and I will personally assist with getting you plane tickets to Somalia so you can see what life is like without those brutal IRS bastards and all they enable.

HURR DURR SOMALIA

Somalia has a government. Nice try though. It's situation was also cause by corruption in the prior government.

You are not forced to pay for any of those things you listed.

I am not talking about compulsion, I'm talking about the illogicality that a proportion of something is exactly the same as a front-loaded downpayment.

Holy mental gymnastics batman!
