Not free. I was a GPTI at a large state school. Just including tuition, we concluded one semester that the course pulled in 400k and I got 11k during the semester.

But, I got a full tuition and fee waiver (all GPTIs did) so a bit more than 11k, but still outrageous.

A little misleading. Professors are not just paid to be teachers -- they are both teachers and scholars. Different schools vary in the relative emphasis they place on each of these roles; as far as universities go, Harvard is primarily a research institution, not a teaching institution. She has tons of publications in top peer-reviewed journals and is one of the most widely cited law professors, thus her salary is based on her scholarship.

This is the same as Ted Cruz bemoaning Obamacare and signing up because it was the cheapest option.

People can intellectually disagree with something and yet still utilize it. Is it ethically grey? Hypocritical? Hell yeah!
