Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Women often have to flee from the only homes they have ever known. Women are often the refugees from conflict and sometimes, more frequently in today’s warfare, victims. Women are often left with the responsibility, alone, of raising the children.

I always figured the primary victims of war are the people who get killed or horribly maimed on the battlefield. But I guess Hillary Clinton and I would disagree on that account.

How the hell is a participant a victim? Is it not men who've started and fought wars?

I mean, the individual soldiers didn't start a war. They don't operate on some bloodthirsty hive mind. And while yes, they fought the wars, when a war is happening, I expect it's tough for a soldier to say, "Hey, I don't think I feel like fighting, so I'm just gonna leave." I'd say it's kinda ridiculous to say that individual soldiers aren't victims of war. But I can't tell you how to think, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.
