For those who aren't aware of the ongoing /r/anarchism and /r/metanarchism drama, a quick overview:

The meta anarchism subreddit is intended to be a subreddit where meta issues of the /r/anarchism subreddit can be discussed. As with 99% of western radical leftists, the subreddit has become a factionalised battleground. There's even a copypasta about the sub

There are two main factions at play,

Group A The characteristic of this group is that they advocate banning people for racism, sexism and a swath of other oppressions. While some in the group have applauded them for their tough stance on trolls, other have accused them of silencing true dissent by making false accusations. Recently, Group A gained power by having many of their members made mods, through elections. If anyone remembers the drama around the user volcanoclosto from last year, they functioned as Group A's attack dog.

Group B This group can be seen as those who oppose the tactics of Group A. While, as anarchists, they are not supportive of oppressive views, they don't believe that blanket banning is the solution when it comes to non trolls. They often oppose the more ambiguous ban proposals to the frustration of Group A and can be stubborn in their demands for process.

So Group B accuses Group A of being authoritarian, and Group A accuses Group B of giving reactionaries a platform..

No one can tell which group is more representative of /r/anarchism, given that /r/metanarchism is it's own little drama club, with only about 20 or so regular users. Check the subredditdrama archives for more anarchy related shit flinging.

This months drama

it started when /u/vindalfr, a moderator from group A, who is currently in a feud with a user from group B, /u/reaganveg, accidently (or so he claimed) banned that user. This led to back and forth between Reganveg and moderator the Mermaid](https://np.reddit.com/r/metanarchism/comments/2ws2cy/apparently_i_banned_ureagangveg_from_meta_4_days/cou8h0o)

A few days later Vindalfr made a ban proposal thread for reaganveg, accusing him of trolling. The ban had a surprising amount of votes, and eventually came down against the ban.

Another mod opposes the motion: "The pattern here is ridiculous, the notion that you can treat someone like that and then make a ban thread right after your action riles them up. Honestly, this provocation shit makes me want to leave this "community". I don't want to be part of a project that inflames its critics then searches for "gotcha" moments to remove them. With habits like that, who the fuck needs the Feds to come here to fuck with us."

After the ban failed to pass. there was still more spring cleaning to do... next up was /u/rita5, who caused some controversy when they announced that to avoid misgendering, they would use neutral pronouns for everyone. During the resulting shit show, /u/Mc_B makes the comment (now deleted) "I dated a Rita once... she had a nice bum."

Eight days later, moderator the Mermaid notices the comment, deletes it and bans Mc_B for sexual harrassment

Reaganveg is one of those who feels this is overeacting

Mc_B's original opposing vote to reaganvegs first ban proposal is also deleted.

yesterday another ban proposal thread was put up for Reaganveg, and it looks likely to be another drama mine. Votes are being tallied, accusations are being made, all aboard the drama train!
