Backgroud:

Twitchplayspokemon is a collaborative stream where users from all around the world can participate together by inputting commands into the stream which are then performed in the pokemon game they're playing. Currently TPP have completed all of the base games and a speacialized hack of red made for TPP for the anniversary run. They are currently playing Pokemon battle revolution by betting on the matches that fight in the arena while simultaneously playing a really bad translation of Vietnamese crystal.

TPP is no stranger to drama and fighting. With early battles between the ordered democracy vs. the insane anarchy. (I may elaborate on this if there is a demand in the comments.) Breathtakingly enough two psuedo religions were formed among this divide, with the majority taking the HELIX allying themselves with anarchy and the religious minority of dome followers ordering themselves with democracy. This has been a constant struggle through the entirety of TPP, though in recent times it's not as strong as it used to be before.

Another contentious topic was of forced lore and natural lore. A flaming war burned again and again and again, ad perhaps still burns over what constitutes as forced or whether if it even matters if lore is forced.(hint: all that matters is that we have something to fight over)

Warning new players have arrived! In come chat leaders! In simple terms, they are TPP power users who direct people in the twitch chat to do what they believe is the best method to progress. They are controversial figures as they are accused of hijacking the run for themselves.( I don't want to go too much in to this, since I have my own biases and probably will give you a very critical insight of them)

Now as for the current controversy...

It revolves around to hacks the tpp community will be playing in the near future. Touhoumon, the less controversial of the two, is a hack of Pokemon FireRed replacing the pokemon with the characters from the Touhou project.

Well don't worry there. Touhou project is a Japanese bullet hell style shooter. It has a fairly large following and an amazing amount of derivative works.(plus it's pretty fun). It is known for it's really large character cast, as well as it's fairly good storyline, music(bad apple anyone? no? okay...) and more. The characters are magical girls with the ability to kick ass.

In this specific pokemon hack, the pokemon are replaced with 'puppets'. The puppets being the cast of Touhou project. In addition there are a number of functional changes to the core pokemon game.

Moemon, is a hack of either FireRed or Emerald(though I think tpp will be playing the FR version, don't quote me on that). It replaces all the pokemon with Moe anthropomorphised characters of the pokemon. "Moe" here means adorable or cute, but a very specific one in that it refers to fictional characters(grils are kawaii, my waifu is moe). So anyways all the pokemon are replaced with either little girls or little boys in clothing resembling the pokemon(though I think there's a version where they're spliced or something).

The fact that both touhoumon and moemon contain girls(or puppet girls) which you catch and them fighting has left people in an uncomfortable feeling.
