I do not see a problem with the cover and it didnt get pulled because it was a problem. It got pulled because fans sent death threats to those that complained and the artist caved. Then the whiners all came out to claim victory. So im sorry if it seems like i dont want to have a real conversation because the conversation you and everyone else is talking about is not about whatnis actually going on. Its over dramatized version of itself that has gained traction only because the artist didnt understand what would happen if he pulled the piece.

This should be about stupid ass fans sending death threat, people realizing what Batman has actually been about for the 25 years and censorship. Not wether it suggests rape... the joker has never raped anyone, that im aware of, but he sure as hell will make you think he did. And that was the point of the psychological damage he does in the killing joke and were getting a taste of how powerful it really is. I think its sexist that just because hes a man in a dominate postion over a scared woman then that means hes going to rape her. Men get raped too. Its such a sexist thing to assert in the first place. Its entertainment and foreshadowing, whats next horror movies? The line was not crossed here, an imaginary line was created due to outrage from that one person who read the killing joke after seeing this on yahoos home page. The craziest thing is that ive spent so long trying to explain it to people who already lack the skills to put it together.

Oh i jsut meant the people who saw a problem in the beginning had a real thing to talk about. Mind you I wasn't one of those advocating pulling it but I could see their position. But I wasn't talking about why it was pulled. I know all about the death threats, feel free to check my history I've been talking about them for three days.

Of course this is really about maturity on the internet. If people don't want reactionary moves by the companies they support, they shouldn't have such reactionary responses to the critics. At least not so reactionary it becomes threats. A healthy disagreement is the basis of a good society, but threats are unnecessary and childish, and often terrifying no matter how based in reality.

It's not censorship though, that's just not what that word means.

TKJ is in fact part of the history, just as "fridging" is part of DCs history, a sad part that should be addressed, but a part that we don't deny existed.

I wouldn't try to paint this as "an outsider" argument though. I think it's a bad cover, not bad art, just a bad cover, and I've been into comics for 33 years and currently run a comic shop. The dissent is well inside the house.

Actually. Fuck this whole sub. Fuck downvoting me for having a dissenting opinion. I'm not being rude or mean, or even super adversarial, I'm trying to have a fucking conversation. I'm a woman, I like when the industry shifts to reflect that fact that something like HALF of all comic sales are to women. Amazingly enough the fucking BOYS CLUB of the 80s did not do women any favors, but try to fix that and "You're not even really into comics".

I swear post gameregate, Feminism has become the new Communism. Everyone assumes you're out to get them and everything they love and paint it pink or something, and they will quickly surround you with pitchforks. Espouse even the barest sympathy for feminist ideals and frothing at the mouth internet manboys just pounce.

Fuck you guys downvoting this conversation, that's not even what the fucking button is for you brigading sons of bitches.
