Because the shitstorm started over journalistic ethics due to the allegations about Zoe. Before that it was just about gaming reviewers actually reviewing a game properly, but has transformed into something more due to vitriol spewed towards people like her.

It doesn't negate the fact that gaming journalism shouldn't be associated with being a social problem whatsoever, or mentioned in the same regards as MRAs (Who, I must admit, do make good points in regards to things such as child custody cases, though).

Actual ethical problems in journalism that affect the real world, where news media is limited in their ability to actually write about problems that go against the views of whoever owns their outlet is an actual problem.

I reiterate my point that anyone outside the gaming community couldn't care less about the issue because it doesn't actually affect anything of real value. People haven't been paying attention to that media for years. That's why IGN is considered a joke for their ratings. People will buy the games they want to buy regardless of reviews.
