The Code of the Pirate TiA Brethren

GENERAL RULES

1a: Do not interact with the bloggers after following a link through here. This includes sending them messages of any sort, positive or negative. We take this rule very seriously, and breaking this is the quickest way to a ban, so don't do it.

1b: If you encounter a SJW in the wild you're free to do whatever you like, but don't post interactions here if you initiated it. Seriously, if you're going to brag about sending them hate or some shit, you obviously don't belong here.

1c: No reporting and especially no trying to get people to mass report.

We are not here to troll or bully SJWs, we're here to make fun of their mental gymnastics. Violating 1a will result in a ban without warning, 1b violators will get a warning via PM or distinguished comment, 1c violators who report will get a warning the first time, but 1c violators who try to get TiA to mass report will be banned.

Rule 2: PERSONAL INFORMATION IS NOT ALLOWED, PERIOD.

This is a site wide rule. Personal information includes full names and locations of bloggers. Whether or not it's in the blog, don't copy it here. You will be banned.

  • All Facebook submissions must have names and photos censored; that goes for OKCupid submissions too.

  • Twitter submissions cannot contain full names. If the account isn't verified (that is, if it doesn't have a blue checkmark beside it), submit a censored screenshot.

For more information see the wiki-article on personal information.

Rule 3: DON'T BE A SCHMUCK.

Don't make fun of people with genuine problems like cancer, autism, or depression, or some medical issue that you might not believe is real, but feel free to make fun of anyone who's self-diagnosed with something and is clearly bullshitting. You know where the line is.

Also, treat your fellow shitlords excellently. Don't tear them down just because they're a proud feminist (or MRA, or libertarian, or communist or whatever). Respectfully disagree, if you do. Personal attacks are dick moves, so don't make them (and that goes for how you respond to the mods as well). Name calling or starting a flamewar/general dickheadness will not be tolorated. Be civil, we are here to laugh.

Also, Try not to post blogs where the blogger is under 16. It is not always going to be apparent, but when it is, don't post it. The rationale here is that 13 year old otherkin is a lot different than a 30 year old one. One is a kid that is likely just going through a phase and the other one is a grown ass adult that has made a choice to be otherkin. That is just an example though and other areas we deal with have the same sort of rationale. There is no need for a ton of people goofing on a dopey kid when there are a ton of dopey adults out there.

Rule 4: DO NOT POST ANYTHING OVERLY POLITICAL/OVERLY SERIOUS.

TiA is not a soapbox for pushing your ideology, so don't post articles that are serious or political/ideological. That means if you post something that's obviously trying to tear down those damn liberals or those right-wing nutcases, we're going to pull it. Only post that shit if it involves social justice shenanigans directly involved with the ideology. A good example is a political party adopting SJW talk, or pushing values we commonly see here (such as power+privilege).

Same goes for super-serious shit.

Rule 5: IF YOU'RE LINKING TO A BLOG THAT CONTAINS NSFW MATERIAL, MARK IT AS NSFW.

Self-explanatory. Just know how to mark things as NSFW, and there shouldn't be any issues.

Rule 6: THINGS THAT DO NOT BELONG ON THIS SUB

  • Satire posts, troll blogs, joke posts and memes belong in /r/TumblrCirclejerk. Here is a list of all the satire and troll blogs that we know about. If you're afraid that a blog you're posting may be satirical or a troll, here are some tips to help you discern the fake crazy from the real shit.

  • General Tumblr humor goes to /r/loltumblr. This means funny shit you found that has to do with Tumblr. Plain and simple.

  • Sanity posts go to /r/TumblrAtRest. A sanity post highlights someone reacting reasonably to SJW bullshit and/or calling out said bullshit. Basically, offering logic where there was none. Pointing out sanity is not the focus of this sub, but submissions that contain someone lecturing a SJW are a-ok, as long as the post is meant to put a spotlight on SJW idiocracy. So, as a general rule of thumb: The post should primarily focus on some SJW acting ridiculous, not any logical smackdowns they're receiving. NOTE: The only exception to this rule is on Sundays, for "Sanity Sunday" (10pm EST Saturday nights - 3am PST Monday Mornings) where these types of posts are allowed on TiA, in order for this to work properly start the title of your submission with [Sanity Sunday].

  • Discussion and Meta posts go to /r/TiADiscussion. This includes AMAs, talks about personal experience with SJWs, complaints about the main TiA sub, etc.

  • YouTube videos and comments are banned from /r/TumblrInAction - seriously, this fruit is so low-hanging that it's subterranean, and it's a bitch to verify.

  • Post not suited for TiA Things like "I Need feminism because" posts are one example of something that has a better home than TiA. There are many others, but I am not going to list them all here. You will get a removal reason with a suggestion for a better suited sub to post your submission on.

  • Dating Sites It's not uncommon to find crazies on sites like OKCupid and Tinder, but due to the amount of personal information and how easy it is to track down those profiles, we'd rather you didn't post them here.

  • Banned topics/Common Reposts Every now and then a topic or specific post is added to either our banned topic list or common repost list. Banned topics are usually announced with a reason. Common Reposts on the other hand are dynamic and ever expanding. Many will be in our wiki but many more are in AutoMod's programming. If you post one of these posts you will get a removal reason stating that it is on one of these lists.

Rule 7: REGARDING CLICKBAIT SITES

This is a list of sites that cannot be directly linked to, and must be submitted as a screenshot or web archive. To put it simply, they engage in clickbait/traffic-whoring, and we don't want to give them any ad revenue.

In addition, screenshots need sufficient context. Capture the whole post, rather than a single line.

Rule 8: SCREENSHOT FORMATTING

Screenshots, if used, must be full screen and full context. No cropped screenshots.

You may blackout any personal info/blog names to protect the bloggers, but if the mods cannot verify the legitimacy of the blog the post will be removed and the OP will be asked to send the mods a link to the blog for verification or in some cases to redo the screenshot before reapproval.

Any screenshot not adhering to this format will be removed.

Here are some examples of both good and bad screenshots.

This extends also to non tumblr sites. Fullscreen/full context screenshots only. No cropped screens. In the case of non tumblr related posts, archive sites can be used in lieu of screenshots. Archive is an example of sites encouraged for non tumblr posts. Do not use DONOTLINK as this still gives the site ad revenue.

Rule 9: DO NOT POST REDDIT COMMENT THREADS HERE, FOR THE LOVE OF SATAN.

No, seriously, don't bring any SJW bullshit you found on /r/TwoXChromosomes or /r/MensRights over here. We're not /r/SubredditDrama, and we don't want to get involved with that shit. Leave us the hell out. If you have to, post that shit in /r/SJSucks.

Rule 10: ANY POST WITH MISLEADING OR SENSATIONALISED TITLES WILL BE REMOVEDNEW

Pretty self explanatory. Making things up for Karma is not cool. Be cool and don't do that!

Rule 11: POSTS WITH LITTLE OR NO CONTEXT WILL BE REMOVED.NEW

This is pretty simple. If people have to go digging around for context, then you should not post it. We have seen posts that appear to be saying one thing but are actually saying something else. People are not mind readers, so if the context is not apparent either add the relevant context or do not post it. This includes screenshots which is also mentioned in Rule 7, 8 and the submission guidelines.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

Screenshots and Reposts:

  • When submitting screenshots, provide FULL CONTEXT. This means no cherrypicking paragraphs, or cutting out entire sections of reblogs. We understand that some of you want to protect the bloggers by cutting their names out of the posts, but this often takes away from context. Take a screenshot of the entire post first, then edit out names, if you choose to do so.

  • Don't post old screenshots that have already been floating around the internet forever. You know the ones that have been reposted so much that you can see the jpeg artefacts practically jumping out the screen? Yeah, they've probably already been posted here at least 10 times.

  • No reposting something that has already been submitted within the past 72 hours. While we understand that, as a large sub, you may be submitting something you didn't already see here, and it will be seen by more people who've yet to see it, reposting something still on the front page is just shitposting. Don't do it.

  • If you are reporting something as being a repost, please provide the original post as well as the repost. If you don't do this, we don't know if it's actually a repost and probably won't remove it.

Flooding:

From time to time something big happens in tumblrland and TiA gets flooded as a result, and sometimes a topic violates Reddit's rules, and sometimes posting it just leads to mass violations of our rules and pain for everyone and blood on the new carpet. So we have to ban the topics; the full list of the banned topics is on the moratorium list, and anything from this list will be removed. From time to time this can get so severe that posting a particular topic can earn the poster a temp ban. Please keep an eye on the list for any updates.

REMEMBER: IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THESE RULES, ASK THE MODS. WE'RE HERE TO HELP.
