If anything, there might be more shitty games in the market or something-but don't buy them?
I think this is the fire that brought the "Anita and Zoe are ruining ethics in gaming journalism!!!" to a boil. AAA games have become progressively more off the rails as microtransactions, bugs, launch problems, etc, start shitting up things.
It's more tough for all of us to lay off not rewarding ourselves (buying games) than it is to seek easy, instant gratification of anger by deciding that gaming journalists are getting sex-for-reviews and, I don't know, something something ruining games by not featuring Mary Sues and endless male protagonists.
I'll never understand why people would choose to spend so much time/energy towards something they don't enjoy.
Low hanging fruit is easy to pick for a reason and all that junk for why people pay attention to gamergate and Anita etc. People get to confirm their beliefs, feel like they're a part of something and get the feedback they crave from it. "Look at this and how gaming journalists are on an email list!" and "Brianna Wu does a thing to respond to death threats!" are karmafarms.
The whole thing used to be delicious, buttery popcorn but the circle jerk against it started getting frothy and the movement itself started being defined by anti-woman rants and death threats. Sad, but as Kurt Cobain said a candle that burns twice as bright lasts half as long.
