Why did you write "Lessons in Logic" before the rest of your title?

Is it like naming your own post, like a newspaper section? And you named it Lessons in Logic because you're going to give us idiots a lesson by telling us how we should be reacting to this? And the answer is 'logically', i.e, how you are reacting to it?

If you've signed a petition to reinstate Jeremy Clarkson and you've been ranting and raving about political correctness gone mad and the easily-offended and the overly-sensitive about the BBC, then I reckon the OP's bang to rights to patronise you and say you need a lesson in logic.

[–]insoundfromwayout 1 ポイント2 ポイント  (12子コメント)

But being patronising to anyone is never going to make anything better is it? No matter how much you genuinely believe they are below you, for whatever reason.

I'd hope Clarkson fans can take a bit of stick, especially given how fucking aggressive they're being on the petition and in these debates.

Given how they normally shout that people should 'learn to take a joke' or simply 'get over it' you'd think they would be more relaxed about someone writing a piece they disagree with.

This is the hypocrisy I find every time when it comes to offensive jokes or whatever. The people who complain the most about the 'easily offended' always seem to show themselves to be the most aggressive and reactionary when something they like is attacked.

Straight-up aggression and anger is more often considered an acceptable emotion due to its association with masculinity. Logic notwithstanding.

Did you sign the petition?

[–]insoundfromwayout [非表示スコア]  (6子コメント)

No. Why?

[–]toward_the_forward [非表示スコア]  (5子コメント)

Are you ashamed and now lying about signing the petition?

[–]insoundfromwayout [非表示スコア]  (4子コメント)

What, to save face in front of you? God, yeah, I'm so red!

No, I don't have anything to do with the petition. I just saw this post and how it was written "LESSONS IN LOGIC - by old 'Report Photographer' who has tagged himself 'Journalist' and thought it was all a bit up-itself. So I said so in the comments, and then started messing around with the OP as it became apparent that he is incredibly concerned with coming across as a serious journalist. He literally just said "You don't even know me! Were you by my side as I, the "typical journalist", dealt with a car bomb in Beirut? or interviewed rape victims in the Congo? No, I do not recall you being with me. You do not know me, so stop trying to brand me."

It's just funny. It's funny when you find people like that, he's like the Mariah Carey of journalism. That's the only reason I'm continuing these threads; the guy is nuts and I am enjoying hearing him talk about himself.

So, no, I have no interest in the petition, didn't sign a petition, I just saw a title that was taking itself too seriously and then got in an argument with a man who takes himself too seriously because it was funny.

I don't really know what you're getting at. That I signed the petition and then became ashamed of it and came here to say that patronising people is wrong as a way to make myself feel better? Have you been playing a lot of cludo?

[–]toward_the_forward [非表示スコア]  (3子コメント)

Yeah. You signed the petition.

[–]insoundfromwayout [非表示スコア]  (2子コメント)

lol you got me, you're so smart. I signed it you're right.

What difference does it make?

[–]toward_the_forward [非表示スコア]  (1子コメント)

Just winding you up because you found it funny to wind someone up.

It is an awful lot of fun isn't it?

Because he's a pretentious twat who wants to pretend he's a famous blogger when a karmabait post gets upvoted on Reddit.

SCRATCHING THE SURFACE
On the 11th of March 2015 I received a reply from reddit used 'Xobics' that shook my world. Read on to find out what I had to say to him...
11th March 2015

yeah, I think you might be right.

I know it's silly to even mention something so stupid and small, but I just hate that journalistic tone of the author knowing-it-all and preaching down to the little readers. And I mean at the best of times, from a good journalist in a proper paper. Let alone people doing it in reddit posts, it's so patronising.

"Hey readers, here's a Lesson in Logic, you millions of fucking illogical plebs - look at it this way not that way"

Oh, thank you, teacher!

he's a pretentious twat

That's going too far imho. Yeah the titles a bit pretentious but otherwise its a good post that someones put effort into and has stimulated discussion. Posts like this make this sub worth coming to, its easy to be snide.

[–]insoundfromwayout [非表示スコア]  (0子コメント)

You know, I do agree, it is premature to judge someone as a pretentious twat just based on a stupid headline alone. It is very possible that someone can sound like a pretentious twat by mistake by choosing a few sloppy words. We all do it sometimes, and its not enough to judge a man by.

However, in this case, like a blind man on the right road, this guy also did turn out to, perhaps just by pure coincidence, be a pretentious twat.

So it's really not a good example of the 'don't judge a book by its cover' moral, no matter how true that adage is.

What have I learnt? Absolutely nothing.

[–]CornettoTrilogy [非表示スコア]  (3子コメント)

Preach bro. The guy could not physically be more patronising.

Oh God why? The misspelled Latin, the blatant lies.... just the tone of it is painful.

Look, if we walk away from this thread knowing only one thing, it's that he is not a typical journalist.

A journalist, yes. It says so in his flair. And his name alludes to it. And the journalistic title of this thread. And he mentions it several times in the thread. But a typical journalist? No sir.

Would a typical journalist know how to deal with a car bomb in Beirut? Were you by his side when he, the 'so called' 'typical journalist', interviewed rape victims in the Congo? You know how serious rape is? Now you feel bad for laughing don't you? Wouldn't be laughing in the faces of those rape victims as he interviewed them, would you? You'd feel stupid then wouldn't you? Well that's how stupid you should feel now, for assuming he is a typical journalist.

For he is not. He is better than us. And now I have seen the proof, I am fully prepared to believe that.
