As I said in another comment, penises, testosterone and the male species have been responsible for an infinite amount of pain and suffering and oppressing women for all of human history. From the rape caves to today.

It is so ingrained in world culture and society that I don't even blame men per say, it's how they're programmed. If I go swimming with a great white shark I can't get mad at the shark when it bites my leg off.

Trans women — even those who still have penes — often have less testosterone than cis women, though.

I have considered that in the past and perhaps taking it on a case by case basis when considering new members but it was pointed out to me by others in the rational feminist community, and I pretty much agree, that if they have a penis it is just too risky. It has already required a great deal of time and discussion when considering post op trans women.

So testosterone isn't really relevant to the issue — since trans women tend to have comparable or lower testosterone levels than cis women, and trans men tend to have testosterone levels on par with cis men. The issue is penes, which brings us back to the question of what risk, exactly, penes have. Are women a risk when wearing a strap-on?

Testosterone is a big part of the issue but not the only part. No women are not at risk using phallic devices, the penis itself is oppressive not similarly shaped objects as long as they're only used for masturbatory purposes or within same sex situations.

Why do you interpret penes as oppressive, though? Surely it's men who are oppressive?

They both are. It seems to me that you're trying to find a one sentence summary to every single issue within an entire rich movement.

In answer to your question about penises and why they're opressive, again they have been used for an infinite amount of pain and suffering throughout history. They are used to rape us, oppress us, assault us. They are used for PIV intercourse which is always rape. They are used to show dominance in many ways.

Yes, men use any tool available as a means of oppression. But it is, ultimately, men, not their tools, that cause oppression. Men oppress all women — cis and trans — and ought rightly be prohibited from women-only spaces. Trans women, however, are women, and properly do belong in women-only spaces.

The reasons for men's oppressive behavior is not only limited to cultural reasons, biology is a major factor if not the most important which is why it extends to all biological males. Post op trans women are considered because a good deal of the danger has been removed but again it has been decided that it is just too risky for a variety of reasons to open the doors to those who currently have penises.

I simply don't see a compelling case to penes being inherently dangerous. Frankly, the concept of gender roles being biologically determined is a patriarchal concept.
