Honestly? I joined this sub because I'm a feminist and its fucking infuriating when women use their gender to one up men or get away with shit. This feminazi female superiority get-away-with-everything bullcrap isn't feminism, it's a fucking ass-backward counterproductive joke.

I am a man and used to consider myself a feminist. I was even a member of the National Organization for Women at my college. This was over 15 years ago.

I still subscribe 100% to all the things feminism supposedly stands for, like fairness and equality in the workplace, equal opportunity, etc. However, most people who call themselves feminists are advocating for the wrong things these days:

  • Women's rights without the responsibility.
  • Professional victims who compete with each other for their own level of victimhood
  • A denial of any inherent biological differences between men and women, as if we both have the same brains with different bodies
  • The demonization of masculinity (just look for terms like toxic masculinity)

If so-called feminists truly wanted gender equality, you would see some instances where men were defended, particularly in those cases where it is obvious men are getting the short end of the stick, like paternity, being labeled as molesters, etc. But that NEVER happens.

The ACLU actually defended the Klu Klux Klan in court (with a black lawyer) because their case merited it. That's called principle. It would be a cold day in hell before any feminist did this for a man.

I actually mostly agree with you.

Some of the people who call themselves feminists are actually misandirsts who perverse and twist the idea of feminism to suit their own means because they think rights need to be two toddlers with one toy: that the other needs to suffer a lack of them because they suffered first. They fail to understand there shouldn't be an exchange in rights because it's not a tangible thing we can't replicate, it can spread evenly.

I whole heartedly agree with the ideals you've put forward here. However I very much disagree with your interpretation of feminism, and I think that by using the "No True Scotsman fallacy" you end up only sheltering those who have co-opted the feminism movement while ostracising yourself from both sides of the debate.

Then again, self-ostracism from this debate is probably a wise move.

Feminism closes male abuse shelters in the USA and Canada

Feminism paints men as rapists, beaters, and child molesters.

Feminism says that all women are angels and are incapable of crime.

Feminism states that it's misogynistic for guys to defend themselves against women.

Feminism stopped me from defending myself against my abusive ex. I was beaten repeatedly but the one time I raised my hand toward her, she screamed loud enough that the neighbors nearly called the cops, even though I'm the one with a black eye and bruises to my chest and arms.

Don't tell me that feminism is equality, I was a feminist until my ex beat me and I couldn't do a damn thing about it.

I apologize on behalf of the misandrists who caused you harm.     Wait, I thought feminism was equality? Not the bullshit feminine insanity that is purported as feminism, but to say feminism isn't for both sexes is inherently foolish. In fact, the reason I consider myself comfortable with the idea of hitting a woman in self defense is exactly because I am a feminist.     I understand that movements change, however feminism was both founded on women's interest and while it may have come close to an egalitarian movement it is going back to being only women's interest.

    Just get a new title and stop trying to make everyone a feminist. Make an Equality movement, or better yet, and Equity movement.

        I think you're having a huge issue with wording. Because feminism requires you to be balanced and educated. Most of the outspoken (minority) of "feminists" are not.
