Uhh, you know Nixon and Agnew were real people who were President and VP between '69 and '73/74? I mean it's still weird that a guy would have that sticker on his car in 2015, but not everything is a futurama reference.

I knew Nixon is real but did not know about Agnew.

Yep, he was the original vice president to Nixon, and didn't stay on the ticket after tax problems + general disapproval from the public

I actually literally just read about this!

"[Gerald Ford] had replaced Vice president Spiro Agnew, who had himself resigned in 1973 for accepting kick-backs while governed of Maryland."

Yay history! Boo the 70's!

To the best of my memory, he firmly stated that if he was indicted, he would not resign. Then he was indicted, and subsequently resigned.

That whole administration was a mess.

There was a great joke in that 70s show where Gerald Ford is coming to town. Kitty tells Red "you voted for him last time," and Red responds with "nobody voted for him last time." Ford was appointed to VP and then ascended to President when Nixon resigned.

There's a good one in Futurama, where the Planet Express crew is in the hall of Presidential heads, and they are talking about the importance of voting or something similar to that.

Gerald Ford then says: "You know, I never thought voting was an essential part of the democratic process"

Are you not from America? Or did you just go to a really shitty school?

I guess that was not part of the curriculum here in the Florida public school system.

The flak that you're catching for not knowing who Spiro Agnew was is a bit undeserved. Vice Presidents who never become President are typically footnotes in history, and there are more important things to cover in high school. If you passed college-level American History without knowing about Agnew or didn't know who Richard Nixon was, then yeah, you should be ashamed, but I'm guessing that's not the case. Anyway, read up on Nixon for your own benefit, for he did quite a few significant things on the global political/economic level, and was more than just what popular culture remembers him for.

Oh shut up. If you ask the average person in the United States no one would know who Spiro Agnew is. It doesn't have anything to do with intelligence or education level. It's one thing he/she didn't know.

I never said anything about their intelligence or education level. I only asked about their quality of education and their location because those are both relevant. And it's not like Nixon and Agnew arent infamous for the Watergate scandal. They're pretty well known.

Seriously? You didn't mention their education level? I think you said "Or did you just go to a really shitty school?" School = Education

Maybe they are but I'm sure younger generations might not be aware. It did occur in the 70's so we're talking about people in their twenties who were born well after it happening.

I'm just saying your remarks are a little unnecessary.

Like I said, that was about the quality of education, but the level. Level would refer to well, levels like high school or college. I was specifically talking about quality, which is something much less accountable. And you were the one rudely telling me to shut up without understanding what I was talking about.

I understood what you were talking about. I never said I wasn't rude, but I was being rude after an ignorant comment. It is what it is. I just feel bad for the person because everyone is implying he or she is stupid simply because they don't know one fact. They're also implying that they may be from a different country or received a poor quality education which I think is rude and/or ignorant to say.

Do you have any reading comprehension at all? I never said a damn thing about their intelligence. And where do you get that me asking them where they're from is my way of insulting them? I only asked that because it would explain why they didn't know who Agnew was. I wouldn't expect someone from not from the States to know who he was, why would they?

Agnew is one of the most famous/infamous VPs in history. I think most anyone with a decent high school education would know who he is, especially considering the rest of America has a much higher age demographic than Reddit.

Besides, he's been referenced on The Simpsons several times in historical context so you think a Futurama fan might get the hint as well.
