I don't understand why some feel the need to defend the gay community by degrading straight people. It's not delicious.

edit - Also I don't know the context this was said in. Just my gut reaction.

Cuz straight people are so oppressed and degraded in society

Straight people aren't oppressed (for being straight), so... Quick, somebody oppress them! Make them feel bad for being straight!

I'm sorry, but you're giving me serious #alllivesmatter #notallmen vibes right now. These statements are not to villainize every single straight person as a whole, and if you're taking serious offense to the fact that our experiences as gay people have made us hesitant to embrace and expect us to explain ourselves away on any sentiment that might offend straights, then I don't know what you're doing in a subreddit about men in dresses.

alllivesmatter #notallmen

I don't know what that means. The rest of your comment lost me too. Being gay doesn't make you motherfucking Mother Theresa, ockurrrrrr

Wait a minute, you moderate /r/dickgirls.

Do you maybe fetishise LGBT people perchance?

Sounds like you're getting stuck on one point, and reading too much into it, rather than just accepting it at face value. She's not belittling straight people, she's not belittling anyone. She's just making the same valid point that most Disney movies make - everyone should have the right to feel their oats however they please. It's just especially funny when gays try to put all gays into one mold.

That explains a lot. Those hashtags were in response to the #blacklivesmatter and #yesallwomen which were movements highlighting the importance of the fact that more black people are killed by white police officers and the violence against women and the lack of respect these groups get. The response hashtags came about because people couldn't understand that just because these facts were highlighted as being serious issues, that an indictment on the current white on black law enforcement fatalities and the culture of defending men for crimes against women and the inequalities that society has in favor of men, doesn't necessarily villainize the larger group of white people/men on an individual basis. Its a failure on your part to see and sympathize with the fact that gays as a group are repressed by straight society. You as a person shouldn't feel so offended by comments made when you as a straight woman on a forum about drag queens aren't a part of the problem.

I'm not claiming to be better than anyone or a "motherfucking Mother Theresa", its just called being aware of the world around you and understanding that different groups have unique struggles.

Nobody owes you anything for being gay.

You've been a member of reddit as long as I have and you have positive karma.

You aren't a troll and deserve everything you get here.

And nobody owes you acceptance in a group that you can't seem to understand why in the world we would have fucking beef with a group that by and large have and still are holding us back as individuals and as a group. If you can't understand our issues with straight culture, then why should we be willing to listen to your qualms with penis envy and confusion over gender identity. You can call us closed off and unaccepting, but you're the one cutting and pasting commentary out of context to avoid answering to the fact that you've been called out, and really showing some ignorance. As a gay person, I don't think I'm owed anything, but as a human, I fully expect to be treated with respect and to have equal treatment under the law. If you're not on board with that, then you can gtfo.

have equal treatment under the law

Uh duh. I don't see what the issue is, I agree with all of that.

but you're the one cutting and pasting commentary out of context

Yeah, I never did that.

Looks pretty cut and paste out of context to me.

Bottom line, you've taken offense to a sentiment that you shouldn't take offense to. We live in a heteronormative society run by straight people, believe it or not, that is a massive oppressor on gays as a group. And yes, I acknowledge that people in power have more sway, but when its not safe or comfortable to walk down the street in many cases, its an issue. The fact that you took such offense to something that shouldn't apply to you and railed so hard against those who clearly have an issue with it...that leaves me as a gay person a little off put when you want to go and make comments about how exclusive and terrible we are.
