Honestly I'd go the ebay route. It may be an unpopular opinion but whatever. You bought it with the intent to use it and now want your money back. Annnd it so happens to be highly sought after. You had no part in that.

I bought a certain makeup item last month and it looks horrible on me. It's on ebay for a good amount of money and I'm going to sell it. I don't feel bad about it. Just because I list it for a certain price doesn't mean someone has to buy it.

it's illegal to sell used product on ebay. They will freeze your account for that.

This is untrue and unhelpful. You can absolutely sell used products.

For cosmetics, you CANNOT sell used products at all. I have had eBay literally call me about it.

For used cosmetics no. But I have sold used body washes, and those are certainly allowed.
Here is a link that explains further: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/used-cosmetics.html

Wait, used body wash?? Was it some sort of unicorn body wash?? Not trying to sound like a bitch, but I just would never buy used body wash lol.

Lol No, nothing special, just a scent that I tried and didn't work out for me.

Lol no I get that, I am just surprised someone out there buys used body wash * kanye shrug *

which is why it's listed separately from "cosmetics", which nail polish is one since the brush comes in contact with your skin, you cannot resell it. The OP was specifically asking about selling a used polish, so this is unhelpful to her.

Nail polishes usually contain a mix of ingredients that make it very difficult for any type of diseases to live in. This is why you can go to a nail salon and have a polish used on you that countless other people had used.

However I understand this is Ebay's policy. But it is not illegal to sell a used polish.

Really? Because a quick google search of "selling used cosmetics" gives eBay as the FIRST HIT and they say NO: http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/used-cosmetics.html

Thank you, I am aware of this page already though.

Then you are the one spreading misinformation. Meanwhile, you've contributed to the down-voting of two people who KNEW what they were talking about. You may consider editing your comments so that other users get the full benefit of the correct information.

I'm not quite sure how I am spreading misinformation? I linked the same page in previous comments.

And I do not appreciate you accusing me of the down votes. I do not control what other people do.

yet in your initial reply, you provide no additional or constructive information yet accuse me of blatant lying or severe ignorance? Perhaps my wording of "illegal" is poor but it IS against eBay's rules to sell used cosmetics -- regardless of the likelihood of mold growing or not in polish. I was trying to be constructive to the OP's POV. She cannot sell her used polish on eBay. Whether or not you've sold used lotions or perfumes on there is your own business, and not relevant to the OP's situation. Instead of calmly replying with this information, you made a whole Situation out of it even though I am not wrong.

I did not accuse you of lying. And I'm not sure how my replies were not calm? That is kind of insulting after you rudely included "Learn2google", I'm honestly not sure how I am being rude or... not calm.

I used my example, because saying, "it's illegal to sell used product on ebay." is not inclusive to all instances. That is why I included the link to Ebays page.

I do not wish to continue this conversation with you though, as your comments are not very respectful. This is getting petty and is no longer contributing to the conversation. Have a good week.

I think it's more that you can't sell used product claiming it's new, but it's okay if you advertise used product as used. But I could be wrong.

There are some products that can be sold in a used condition, however products with an applicator (such as nail polish) that can come into contact with skin etc. and cosmetics cannot be sold in a used condition. However, they can be sold in a damaged state (to a reasonable degree) as long as it is clearly indicated on the listing.
