I agree entirely. There are people in the finance world killing themselves doing 12 hour days and only getting paid for maybe 50 hours. At 10 hours a week and time and a half that's a lot of money. Engineering is the same way. When you only get paid 40 hours and you sit there and work 60, it shows passion for your job and makes your manager recognize your contributions over those who leave exactly on time.

The people arguing against you have probably never seen a real job, or get too tired after working retail for 5 hours.
