理事長：寺田和弘 1998年慶応義塾大学法学部卒。同年日本商工会議所入所、1999年外務省在デンマーク日本大使館（コペンハーゲン）。2004年参議院議員政策担当秘書。2014年デンマーク大使館上席政治経済担当官。1989年に世界で初めて同性結婚を認めたデンマークにおいてゲイやレズビアンの人達、その家族や友人、同僚の人達も含めて、誰もが自然に社会の一員として生きている姿が印象的でした。また、30代では日本の国会に勤務して、法律ができるプロセスを見てきました。そうした経験から、日本でも同性結婚を認める法律ができたらいいなと考えるようになりました。
EMA Japan founder and President Kazu Terada spent his 20s in Copenhagen, Denmark, the country where same-sex marriage was first legalized in 1989. Kazu was able to observe first hand how gays and lesbians in Denmark became deeply integrated into Danish society, be it their families, friends or colleagues. This made a deep impression on him. Kazu returned to Japan in his 30s to work at the Japanese Diet (national legislature) and was exposed to Japan’s legislative processes. This experience inspired Kazu’s advocacy and dream that one day, same-sex marriage would become recognized legally in Japan.
副理事長：ジェフリー・トランブリー 米国・ミネソタ州（2013年に同性婚法制化）出身。1997年より日本在住。外国人として初めて、東京音楽大学修士課程を修了。音楽家、ナレーターとしてキャリアを積み、現在は大学准教授。米国中西部の保守的な環境に育ち、同性婚が実現すると想像していなかったものの、第二の祖国・愛する日本が、全ての市民に公平な社会になることを望んでいます。
Vice President Jeffrey Trambley is originally from Minnesota, USA, where same-sex marriage was finally legalized in 2013. Living in Japan since 1997, he completed graduate school at the Tokyo College of Music and since then has worked as a musician and narrator. He is currently an associate professor at a university. Growing up in a conservative Midwest environment he never envisioned that acceptance of same-sex marriage could come so far. He hopes to help bring about similar change to Japan, a country he has grown to love and now considers his home, to make a more equitable society for all its citizens.
理事：今川 雅詞 東京大学法学部卒。EMAのウェブサイト周りを主に担当しています。高校生位の時に自分はゲイだと自覚。少しこじらせた時期もありますが、周囲に恵まれアメフト部の仲間や職場の同僚にはカムアウト済み。差別や偏見というものを肌で感じた経験は思っていたより少なかったです。しかし目に見えない「空気」としてLGBTに対する偏ったイメージが存在しているために、日々窮屈な思いをしている友達が沢山います。少しでもLGBTにとって生きやすい時代になるといいなと願いながら日々サイト解析にいそしんでいます。
Director Masafumi Imagawa graduated with a law degree from the University of Tokyo. Realizing in high school that he is gay, he has been lucky to have been surrounded by many supportive friends who have accepted him after coming out – from his teammates while playing american football at university and his colleagues at his workplace. Although Masa himself has little experience of feeling discriminated against first hand, many of his friends still suffer from the daily battle of living in an atmosphere of intolerance. Hoping that one day, a time will come when it will be easier for LGBT members to live, Masa joined EMA Japan to run the organization’s web and online projects.
理事：梶田剛 東京都生まれ。早稲田大学政治経済学部卒。幼少期からゲイであることを自覚していたもののゲイであることを隠し続け、男女の恋愛のドラマのヒロイン役に自分を当てはめ「自分にはこんな幸せは来ないんだ」と考えていました。ゲイの世界にデビューしてからは新しい世界を見つけた喜びを感じる反面、その価値観の狭さに失望もしました。その失望のもとは同性愛者同士が結婚できないことから、自分の限界を感じた厭世観にあるのではないかと考え、性的マイノリティにも同様の権利が与えられるべきではないかと考えるようになりました。性的マイノリティ同士の結婚が、性的マイノリティにとっての持続可能な価値観を持つ動機になればとの考えを持ち、EMAの活動に参加。
Director Go Kajita is a native of Tokyo and studied politics and economics at Waseda University. Go realised at a young age that he was gay but continued his life hiding his sexuality from others, thinking that he could never find the kind of happiness he saw in romantic dramas, where the heroine would be swept of her feet by the male protagonist. Once he was out in the gay community, he felt he could find happiness in this new world, yet at the same time felt the world closing in another way. Unable to marry as a gay man and sensing the limits of his existence triggered a sense of frustration with the world and made him begin to question why sexual minorities are not given the same rights as everybody else. Believing that equal marriage for sexual minorities is an important cause for the well being of the LGBT community, Go joined EMA Japan.
理事：スヴェン・パリス ドイツ・英国の二重国籍を持ち、バーレーンで育つ。ジェンダー、人種、思想、性に対する偏見を経験したことから、あらゆる平等の実現のために活動することを決意。19歳でゲイであることをカミングアウトし、ケンブリッジ大学のLGBTサークルの役員に就任。東京大学に留学してからはLGBTサークルToposを友人と結成。現在、EMA日本理事として活動する傍ら、東京レインボープライドの国際リエゾンオフィサーとしても活躍しています。
A citizen of both Germany and the UK, Director Sven Palys grew up in Bahrain. Growing up seeing some of the worst excesses of prejudice against gender, race, faith, and sexuality, he has made it his goal to support equality wherever possible. Sven came out to himself at the age of 19, and soon after became socials officer for the LGBT community at the University of Cambridge. Distraught at the lack of a similar group at the University of Tokyo, he started ’Topos’ – the first student LGBT organisation at the university after many years, with a couple of friends. Currently, apart from working at EMA Japan, Sven has taken up the role of International Liaisons Officer at Tokyo Rainbow Pride.
