"It’s how the characters of the Half-Life universe treat Gordon Freeman, not the way he treats them, that shape such a compelling character."

I disagree with GamesRadar. Freeman and Chell are placeholders for the player. They are empty vessels. You like Chell and Freeman because YOU ARE Chell and Freeman. Or rather, they are whoever you want them to be.

Besides, Halflife has a lot of characters that talk to Freeman. Portal has, what, two? Glados and Wheatley? Chell mostly gets talked at by homicidal robot or a formerly homicidal potato robot. We learn about the robots and Cave Johnson, not Chell.

Chell has no background story. She has no personality. Her only obvious motivation is to get out of the experiment in one piece.

The funny thing about it to me is that Chell was endorsed as a non-problematic character by Ms. FemFreq herself because a silent and fully clothed woman with no personality is halal but Samus Aran somehow isn't.

You hit the nail on the head. Feminists want female characters with no traits or attributes at all besides being female. Make them pretty? Sexualisation! Make them physically strong? Unreasonable expectations and male power fantasy! Make them weak? Demeaning women, damsel in distress trope! Make them good? Too one dimensional! Make them bad? Femme fatale trope! Sexualisation! Misogyny!

Feminists want

I must have missed the convention when all feminists agreed on what they wanted.

Lol. Its not about what they want, its about what they want to complain about.

I would say neither all feminists nor all anti-feminists are able to agree on everything they want or want to complain about. You made a generalization. I imagine you are not particularly fond of times when generalizations are made about gamergate supporters.

You are making the mistake of trying to add the capability to reason and see things logically to people who just want to be upset and complain (SJWs). The point is, 90% of female iterations in games or media, someone from that collective will complain about it for some reason. Anita even complained about the SVU episode for some reason even when it portrayed gamers as ISIS.

Chell is tenacious and her dad's a scientist.

That still leaves Chell with less background, personality, and motivation than Jigglypuff.

That is your personal opinion. And your words were

Chell has no background story. She has no personality.

Since the game has evidence of both a personality and background story, what you've said is false. And try to avoid paraphrasing your own opinion onto the evidence provided.

You're right. I'll rephrase. Chell has no barely any personality and background story.

...and now that I'm thinking about it, Chell also has less dialogue than Jigglypuff.

Spoken/written dialogue is in no way necessary for a character to be considered good/positive (see- Gordan Freeman)therefore the relevance of having less lines than jigglypuff is questionable.

You think we're having an argument but we aren't. I'm not actually making a point, I just think it's funny.

Ok.
