Sounds like they're taking the comcast approach- Go pound sand unless you make a forum post and people notice. Feel free to contact me too, I bought a 970 from you guys as well as 6 grand in computer builds over the last couple years. I'll take my business elsewhere if you chaps are going the comcast route.

My representative told me Newegg is either doing returns or nothing, but gave me a $20 "courtesy gift card". The 30% thing sounds like bogus based on what I heard from two support reps.

Me too, I'm having a supervisor call me today. According to this post you basically have to talk to them on the phone, and you can get 25% refund or 30% refund store credit.

It probably depends on how well you can talk to them. I'm not very good at that kind of them and only got offered 15% back. But ill take my $55 and feel a lil better about it.

Just finished speaking to Amazon, can confirm, was given 20% refund. At first they offered 10%. Just be courteous and explain you've been reading Amazon are offering a 20% discount due to the false advertisement. Worked for me.

False card specs were given out the usable amount of ROPs and effective memory bandwidth, especially when using the last .5GB, making it not a true 4GB card. A detailed explanation can be found here. Basically the performance is reduced greatly when the card is forced to use >3.5GB of its memory.

Those who use 1440p and greater are the ones who are really affected by this, while those at 1080p will not reach >3.5GB on most games currently.

Customer support on Newegg's site will do. Just ask if you can get a 30% refund straight up. They'll try and make it 25% but you might be able to haggle it

Good luck on both of those fronts, a week (or so) ago I heard Gigabyte was doing something of a step-up program for 970 owners, then more recently I saw they are spewing the BS again and being unhelpful...

And NCIX has been the most unhelpful of all, in short saying their customers are whiners and telling them to pound sand. I refused my NCIX card and glad I did, they will never see another dime of my money with the piss-poor customer service they have. Oh, and they sat on my return for over a week before they did anything, I had to contact them twice to get the refund rolling. Stay away from these guys if customer service after the sale is of any value to you.

It is a big performance drop when the card accesses that part of the vram in games that require more than 3.5 GB of vram. That 0.5 GB chunk is 1/7th the speed of the 3.5 chunk
