Actually, the most surefire way to get rich still is to be born rich.

So what are you gonna tell your kids?

"Don't even try, you were born poor, you'll stay poor."

I was born ultra fucking poor and now I am not poor at all. I did this by trying. I know your comment was tongue in cheek, but so many people take that line of thinking seriously and never amount to what they otherwise could if they had tried as hard as they should have and stopped blaming everyone and everything else for their problems. Does not apply to everyone, but definitely to a lot of people.

He never said it wasn't possible to become not poor after being poor. It is just much more likely that you will stay in the class you were born in.

It's like the point that hard work alone isn't going to make you richer than when you were born. But the most common denominator in raising your standard of living is hard work.

hey man, id recommend going to college if i were you! you seem pretty stupid right now :P

[–]Just_Look_Around_You 0 ポイント1 ポイント  (0子コメント)

See, it's weird. I don't feel like its about money all that much. Like I was born quite poor to new immigrant parents in Canada, but they were both smart and hard working and given the opportunity in canada - within 20 years they've done pretty good for themselves and their 3 kids are all doing really well. So even though very poor when we were young, we sort of knew it wouldn't stay that way at all.

No. I'll tell them to start a revolution.

all right Che

If you're smart enough to start a revolution that isn't shit you may as well get rich the legitimate way.

And then use the money to start a revolution.

M'commie.

Start a revolution? What the fuck are you talking about? Tell them to spend less time fussing about other people being rich, use that time to get educated, and do something with it. Don't tell them to start a revolution, because it won't happen. Before they know it they'll be 40 and working on some "Revolution" instead of making a decent living.

You were born middle class, give up and be bitter. Someone else has it better.

Ha! I was born lower-middle class! Joke's on you!

While being born rich definitely gives you a much better chance, I think most studies/surveys do show that the majority of millionaires did not make their money from inheritance.

I'm not saying they're all rag to riches, in fact I bet they're mostly from middle class to upper-middle class families and had great access to education, but still interesting non the less.

Plus being born rich isn't something you can just do, so it's a waste of thought.

someone told me i could be born again, i figured this was the only way to choose which economic class i was born into so i said 'sure, okay lets do this'.

I was mistaken.

The top ten richest people in the US are almost entirely first generation rich. Yes, there's obviously a strong correlation, but let's go full retard here.

let's go full retard here

I assume you left out the word "not," but maybe that's for the best, considering you're suggesting (most) of a sample size of ten is enough to draw valid conclusions from.

The top ten richest people in the US are almost entirely first generation rich

What? I just looked at the list, Bill Gates was born wealthy (1% not .1%) Warren Buffet was upper middle class, then Larry Ellision (Adopted into a wealthy family) Kock brothers (family money) Bunch of the Walmart children (Daddys money.)

So one middle class, one upper middle class, one who wasn't born rich, but still had wealthy up-bringing ,then all the rest from the 1% to the 0.1 %

Honestly, that is a useless statistic. The statistic you want, is the number of first generation rich to born rich in a graph from the past 50+ years.

Depending on the year, the US produces essentially the same number of first-time millionaires as the rest of the world combined. As far as your 'useful' statistic goes, there isn't much usefulness to it. Not to mention, you may actually be surprised by the results. Regardless, its simply a fact that there is more upward mobility in the US right now than in any other place, in any time in history. If there is not enough for you to be happy, that's reasonable, but let's not pretend it isn't a wonderful time and place to be poor and get rich in the context of human history.

It's all useless. You can't do anything about being born rich, so move on and work on the stuff you can control. Excluding reincarnation (which seems to be what you all are advocating) education is the best indicator so do that one, because it's the one you can do. Or you could just sit here and be bitter.

That comma

Half to the top ten richest people in the US are Sam Walton's heirs. They only thing they ever did to earn that money was to be the first sperm to get to the egg.

Nah, you just have to be a cunt and steal someone's shit before anyone else does.

If I provide something you want, how am I a cunt? You spend your own money. Don't give people your money if you don't want to. They're not stealing.

So you'll tell your children to be born again?

So. There isn't really a lot you can do with that.

Why did I read still born in that sentence?

Oh shit, what am I doing getting 3 hrs of sleep every night and using my oven to heat my apartment because I can't afford to use my electric heater while I get through Engineering School then??? So that people can bitch and moan when I have a job that pays better than them I suppose.
