You did the (shit)Lord's work, son.

As someone with PTSD, thank you.

I'm so sick of people trivializing the condition, when they have literally no idea what it's like to have to deal with it.

For real as a fellow sufferer of PTSD it annoys the everloving fuck out of me when some fucker says they were "triggered" by some stupid shit for a goddamn eating disorder.

Motherfucker, I don't see you waking up soaked in sweat, screaming and kicking because you saw a goddamn Big Mac. I don't see your dumbass put your head on a swivel when an argument starts, or drop like a rock when a car backfires.

GTFO with your "trigger" bullshit, you don't know what PTSD or Acute Anxiety caused by PTSD is even really like. Fucking attention whores.

What. Since when did the word trigger have a specific association with PTSD. The word Trigger is etymologically older than the diagnosis of PTSD. If I talk about triggering an election or triggering a rifle, am I demeaning people with PTSD?

If someone is trying to avoid smoking triggers by also avoiding coffee (for example), why does there have to be any allusion to PTSD?

I don't seek to push an agenda, I just genuinely think this entire discussion is stupid and unproductive and, by extension, all y'all are too.

I think that the point that these guys are making is that tumblrinas are using this term when their feels get hurt, when in truth something like a PTSD trigger is something many times more dire than some fat fucker getting slapped by reality.

I'm not a sufferer myself but my good friend is ex army and he has minor PTSD. Allow me to reassure you that it really sucks for him, and it is nothing like what these over sensitive fatties experience.

Yes, while "trigger" is of course a very old word these fatties are obviously using it in reference to a PTSD trigger. As in, you hear a noise that sounds like a gun shot and instantly drop or freak out because your trauma has been triggered. It's offensive because these hamplanets act like someone calling out their bullshit is exactly as stressful as fucking war was for someone with PTSD.

I see where you're headed, so you get my upvote.

But I really doubt they legitimately get the same reaction that a vietnam vet would have, when their past is brought up to them.

Also, I don't think they have EVER brought up that they were diagnosed and looking for treatment for it. Which is just lazy. And as far as I know, this hasn't been a thing to use "trigger words" until the internet happened.

Which is what we're referring to. Your examples of uses of trigger were correct though.

You haven't seen many super obese with mold filled sweat folds and skinny husbands who deal with mold on a scooter kicking and screaming for the butter stick.

Yeah. But that's a temper hamtrum not PTSD.

I still have trouble connecting with people and empathy

I developed it after a car accident. It has been almost a year and I've just gotten to the point where I don't ram my heels into the floor of the car every time the driver brakes. Though I still do get adrenaline rushes every time a light changes to yellow.

I was a corpsman and was exposed to so much shit that eventually I just kinda broke. Burnt bodies, exploded bodies, gun shot wounds, maimings.. I would see them in passing or be working on someone and it was all just so fucking pointless

I still have nightmares about some of the stuff that went on. The screams, blood, and gore wasn't the worst part, its when shit would happen and the victim had that confused look that haunts me.

God, I wish I had something decent to say. Something you haven't heard before. But I know you've heard it all. You've lived through things I can't even imagine.

Nothing needs said

It was what it was

But thanks anyway

I think i have a mild case from a car accident too. My body and blazer were decimated by a school bus. I panic whenever I see one now, especially when driving.

Wow, how'd that one happen, if you don't mind me asking?

Driving home from work, bus came into my lane and hit me head on. Basically my whole left side got destroyed, body and truck. It happened July 2012, and I'm walking decently enough now. Still pain and weaker on that side but I work out every day and regained a lot of muscle back.

Can't the same word (triggering) be used for OCD?

I have no idea what it's like having PTSD. And I feel for you, my grandparents' best friends' son has it. But fortunately it's bearable for him...

On the other side, I've got an eating disorder. And I do have things that trigger it. Which ones? I still don't know, it's been years and I'm still struggling and learning what to avoid.

Doesn't excuse these landwhales for using the word though, they've got no condition at all that justifies the word "trigger".

This is how I feel as someone with diagnosed OCD and ADHD.

Thank you for telling one of these cunts off. I had a brother that killed himself after suffering through PTSD for a little over 2 years.

Actually, THAT'S a legitimate trigger.

i want to like your post very bad.

You have no understanding of eating disorders. Its nothing like PTSD, and I don't think this girl was making reference to that. Eating disorders are serious mental conditions for those who suffer from it, even though you seem to think its a joke.
