Serious question: Why wouldn't /r/shitredditsays be included as a sub that could be banned for "hate speech?" There are sizable amount of comments that are hateful towards men, white people, cis people.

SRSer's would say it's just a circlejerk and shouldn't be taken seriously. But then why couldn't a random racist joke sub say something like that, and be absolved from a ban? Hate speech is still hate speech, no matter the race or gender. So where would they draw the line?

One could say that srs isn't technically a hate sub, and the comments are just byproducts of the sub itself. Well, /r/theredpill isn't technically a hate sub, and people in the thread have called it a hate sub, and have proposed banning it.

I agree that the rhetoric should be calmed down. But there's a difference between calling people out for the privilege they have and being hateful.

It's pretty obvious what's hate and what's not. To a reasonable person who's being honest.

If you look at the tone of the comments in that sub, it's pretty clear to see that, like /r/mensrights, it's a hate sub.

calling people out for the privilege they have

That's not exactly what happens on srs. There are A LOT of comments that are purely in the "hateful" camp, rather than the "calling out for privilege camp."

It's pretty obvious what's hate and what's not. To a reasonable person who's being honest.

It really isn't. Hate speech is objective. What you and others are doing is subjective. You're saying this hate speech is ok, because I think it's all right to spew hateful speech towards white people/males/cis people.

Definition of Hate speech from Dictionary.com "speech that attacks, threatens, or insults a person or group on the basis of national origin, ethnicity, color, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability."

Notice how it doesn't say that hate speech towards white people/males/cis people is allowed. Any group can experience hate speech. It's not lesser hate speech if it's directed towards whites/males/cis people. It's hate speech, plain and simple. And if the Reddit admins are targeting hateful subreddits, then I think it unfair and biased to not at least consider all subs that feature a significant amount of hate speech(SRS being one of them).

If Reddit admins are able to pick and choose from hateful content that they deem "ban worthy," then I believe that sets a bad precedent for the future, where pretty much anything that's considered the wrong opinion is banned. Reddit is perfectly within their rights to do what they want, as it's a private company, but we are perfectly within our rights to speak of the issues surrounding their new stance on hateful content.

I don't think I agree with hate speech against majorities being equally bad as hate speech against minorities, but it's definitely still bad, and a lot of the stuff I see is just mean spirited and juvenile. Even if you're punching up, punching is still bad

I agree. And because, while conservatives who cry out about "reverse racism" and such are usually doing so for the wrong reasons, the idea that anyone is intrinsically bad is antithetical to our whole point. I mean that saying a white person is born evil, that the baby is some kind of vessel of evil, is fucked up and very counterproductive to the discourse we want to have.

I understand people on prime, especially, want to vent and I try not to take the shit personally, but sometimes it crosses a line where it's suggesting like my whole family are shit or something and that's just not true.
