What a hypocrite. He stood up for the unnecessarily severe quarantines for ebola, locking symptomless people away for weeks against the advice of all medical professionals.

And an actual measles outbreak happens in California, but nope, the freedom to deny well established medical practices is too important.

Fuck this guy.

He's not a hypocrite. He vaccinated his own kids. He just thinks people deserve a choice.

You can support someone's right to make a stupid choice while not making that choice yourself.

Except, as shown by the current outbreak, it is a choice that can end up harming--even killing!--many more people than just oneself. Herd immunity, it's a thing.

How much of a choice do you get? If I have AIDS, is it still my choice to sleep with you and not tell you first? If I have tuberculosis, is it still my choice to go to a movie theater? Can I choose to smoke next to you in a restaurant?

This has nothing to do with wisdom, stupidity, or making bad choices. If your choice exposes someone else to harm, it's more than a simple matter of your right to choose. Your right to choose to swing your arm ends where the other guy's nose begins.

With infectious diseases and choosing not to vaccinate, you're choosing to swing at everyone and hoping you don't smash them in the face.

I choose to drive my car on the sidewalk. It's my right to make stupid choices.

wait, it's not.

You have a right to make stupid choices that affect you and you alone, but when your stupid choices begin to affect the physical welfare of others is where one should draw the line.

I can't support a "right" to endanger others like that against all reasonable evidence. That doesn't make sense. Note I'm not saying you specifically are anti-vax, I just take exception to your statement in regards to the stupid choice, in this case.

There are indeed many stupid choices I'm a-ok with, but not anti-vaxxers.
