The schwerpunkt of the discussion hasn't shifted all that much. I stopped lurking once I started cranking through books and taking philosophy courses, and I can't decide whether it was this development or the degradation of /r/ancap's content that's most contributed to my absence here. Either way, this sub bores me to tears.

Political views seem to have shifted across the board. Heck, I think we're completely out of straight-up ancaps, egoist or otherwise.

EDIT: On second thought, there's a lot more limp-dick faggotry than there used to be. The philosophical discussion is still decent, if it's with the right people.

I'd debate a feminist for a while, but around me and the guys they'd probably get chided too often and want to leave, like gabe did, but I had already left by then myself because I was tired of amateur hour, so I can't entirely blame gabe, in that case. He was always a good kid around me, so I don't disvalue his company; it's the censorist feminists who are annoying.

Personally, if I were in Liber-Tea's position, I wouldn't have banned Sliceman. What happened was I asked him to clarify what he understood feminism to be, and he answered with "college rape myth" or something to that effect and before I responded Liber-Tea flipped out and banned him. There was already a lengthy in-depth discussion on gender politics related topics that week, which I didn't engage in really, but many people weren't in the mood to start another gender politics discussion at a more remedial level with the Sliceman -- Liber-Tea in particular didn't like the prospect one bit. I don't particularly call myself a "feminist" but I'm open to reading more feminist material to get an understanding of their side of things that isn't tainted with some tumblr-level rad-fem bullshit.

I think you've been informed of a fight I had with bugman about another gender-related topic (a fight that was fuelled by other little jabs he threw at me at the same time), but I can assure you that that discussion and this discussion with the Sliceman are the only times I can recall talking about gender politics in the chat. It's not something I really give a huge shit about (which is why, honestly, I didn't proceed too far with that argument I was having with bugman).

Well, maybe I should recreate the chat, but with only four or five of the guys, with about a half dozen new guys I've picked up since who come from aristocratic egoism. But, this is why I have to execute a cycle of purges every now and then. One gets these amateur clinger-ons now and then that embarrass the guys who actually put work into reading and thinking.

It isn't that we all have to agree or have read the same things, but the calm, mature, and collaborative attitude has to be there for any circle that lasts. That chat was fairly good in the beginning and stayed good for a couple months, before a few of us got tired of the people not pushing their education and coming to the group with their findings.

It slowly turned from being a research group, where we talked about who we were reading, with only passing comments about the stupidity of certain Redditor comments, into a 'small talk' chat group, which annoyed the actual excellent minds in the group and made them participate less and less.

I always imagined the group turned into a complete cesspool not long after Kyle and I left / stopped participating, but it sounds like three or four other guys think the same thing about it now, too.
