What you're saying is like saying that if someone gets their wallet stolen, they shouldn't report it to the police, try to get it back, or cancel their credit cards, because it's a waste of time, and if those things ARE a waste of time, they should reconsider how they spend their time.

You really think anyone wants to do those things? Of course all of that is a waste of time, it's time you weren't planning on using for that purpose before. You're basically saying it's totally fine for them to have gotten their wallet stolen and thy shouldn't be complaining about having to deal with the repercussions. You would be entirely ignoring the fact that someone stole their wallet and instead focus on the victim's complaining. You're pretty much saying "Oh, something shitty happened to you and you had the gall to say how annoyed it made you? Jesus, stop your bitching already" and entirely ignoring the part where something shitty happened.

This is essentially victim shaming, even though in this case the crime and victims are quite minor, the principle of it is still shitty. You're basically telling us you think it's perfectly acceptable to waste someone else's time for no good reason.

Also, yes, it is a "waste" of time, because it's something that person wasn't planning on spending any time doing that day, and because someone decided to be n asshole, now they have to do it.

How about another example? A guy comes into your house and knocks over all of your shit, spilling drinks on the floor, and making a huge mess.

I would consider it a waste of time to have to clean that shit up, because I wasn't really planning on spending time that day cleaning. Maybe I had other plans, but now that's gone, because I had to waste that time cleaning up.

There absolutely is such a thing as "wasted time," and that's when you spend time doing something you weren't planning on spending time doing, which ends up using time you planned on using for something else, making that time wasted. As in, it is a waste, you have lost that time when you may not have needed to lose it, that's what wasting is.

By your logic, it's perfectly okay to come in and trash someone's house, and if I complain about having to clean it up instead of doing better things, then I should "reconsider how I spend my time."

It's really shitty to completely ignore the "crime" and shame the victim for needing to spend time cleaning up afterward. Even if the crime is a very minor one, the principle is still the same - someone decided to be a dick, and now someone else has to spend their time cleaning up after them.

The solution to this isn't "gosh stop whining about having to clean up after assholes," it's "stop being an asshole in the first place so nobody has to clean up your goddamn mess."
