So, yesterday in AP human geography class my teacher was talking about colleges we would like to go to, and I spoke up and said “I would really like to go to Stanford”, and he said ” Well, honey, I would lower my expectations if I was you, seeing that most women aren’t smart enough to even make it to community college, I mean don’t take it offensively, but you would just be taking a potentially smart mans place “. I was shocked, I turned to my friend and she had her mouth wide open in dismay, but no one spoke up at this or argued that he was wrong……………So apparently in the American school system its ok to tell female students to lower their dreams because they’ll never reach them as long as they’re a woman, because being a smart woman in a professional place is just ” taking up a mans space”. This is being passed on to the next generation. And no one is caring. No one is speaking up,because they either know this is the way it is or they just. Don’t. Care.
