Dear God this is the most myopic, non sequitur argument in the history of debate and the right wing never lets it go. You would think one of them would be bright enough to let the others know how idiotic it is and get them to knock it off.

So here it is. Baseball bats are made for playing baseball. It's the intended purpose of the object. Firearms are tools of violence. You cannot play baseball with a firearm. You also cannot build a house, change a tire or do any of the other things the other objects listed can do. You are comparing apples to spaceships. Please for the love of all that's holy find a reasonable, on point argument to support your cause.

  1. Second admendment right.

Now we can argue all day about what the orginal intentions were, but right now the supreme court interprets that as citizens having the right to bare arms.

Besides its not like most politicians give a damn about violence anyhow. If they did we wouldn't have a 70 + year war on drugs going on.

ALSO THE VIOLENT CRIME RATE HAS STEADILY DROPPED SINCE THE 80s

I honestly wish that we lived in a world where there were'nt crazy fuckers out there and I had no need to ever have to have the thought in the back of my mind that someone may try and harm me or my family one day. If that world existed then there would be no need for my CPL or for me to exersize my right and use it. Unfortunately it's that small minority of evil people who ruin it for everyone else. I honestly hope i go through life and never once have to draw my pistol from its holster in a real world scenario...

I do too but that was not the point of the comment.

The ONLY point was that the hammers/golf club/knives to guns argument was invalid. Which of course it is. However as we can see whenever this fact is mentioned the conversation instantly goes further off the tracks and onto other non relevant tangents like how do I defend myself, my second amendment rights, cops suck, etc. For some reason that side of the table cannot follow that particular line of thought out to a reasonable conclusion without meltdown. It's really quite a phenomenon actually.

I have noticed that debates on this topic get boring because each side knows where the other is heading and no one ever walks away with a changed point of view 99% of the time

So then what would you suggest to use for personal defense? The cops? The cops with those scary guns?

Hey, man! They can normally be at your place within 10 minutes. Just stall the guy attempting to rob/rape/murder you!

A great off topic rebuttal. Thanks for playing.

Please tell me you're kidding or do the planet a favor and don't reproduce.

Don't worry, the cops will be there shortly after its too late to assist you.

[–]corrigun [非表示スコア]  (2子コメント)

Again, you missed the point. What is it with you guys?

[–]iHuntKS [非表示スコア]  (1子コメント)

You still didn't answer my question. What is it with you guys?

[–]corrigun [非表示スコア]  (0子コメント)

Your "question" was off topic and still is. Go back and have someone re-read my OP for you.

You obviously know fuck all about firearms and the hobby surrounding them. Comparing a gun to a baseball bat and saying you can't play baseball with a gun? Your argument is just as "myopic" as you claim the other is. In America, guns are a sporting tool. Guns are made to punch holes in paper, steel, and animal targets. Over 99% of legal gun owners in America use them for that purpose. Why? Because that's our reason for owning them, the manner in which we desire to use them. Are guns used in crime? Yes, because small amount of people have chosen a criminal lifestyle and choose a tool for that job. Guns are used in a low number of those crimes. Guess what, baseball bats are used in crimes as well, they're even easier to get your hands on. What pisses me off the most about anti-gun arguments is that they always try to take the human element out of it as if a humans motive had no bearing on the actions committed. A gun won't kill anyone unless the human operating it has the desire to pull the trigger with the intent on taking life.

Just as some background on me, I'm a gun owner. I am also a retired Army soldier with a focus on weapons expertise. I trained a lot of people on the use of M4/16, 249, 250, etc platforms. I've never taken another human life despite hundreds of hours of trigger time and countless rounds fired.

To illustrate the pure sporting nature of guns I urge you to look at Anschutz GmbH, makers of some of the finest precision rifles in the world and actually do some honest research into people who own them and what they do with them, /r/guns can help you with that research.

And yet again we drift. When did I say I was anti gun? And you know how much I know about firearms how? Nice touch pulling the Military circle jerk card too. You must know what you are talking about.

[–]CBR01 [非表示スコア]  (5子コメント)

Its quite apparent from this comment how closed minded you are. Rather than do honest research and gain an intelligent insight before making a baseless argument, you hold onto your emotionally driven belief. This is why these arguments never turn into open discussions, because people like you are ignorant and naive with no desire to change.

[–]corrigun [非表示スコア]  (4子コメント)

what?

[–]CBR01 [非表示スコア]  (3子コメント)

A: You're full comment wasn't there when I replied.
B: There's no additional points in that comment, just attacks. Your original comment is anti-gun no matter how you may view it. Pro-gun people do not see guns as tools of violence, just tools which are used by violent people on a very small number of occasions.

[–]corrigun [非表示スコア]  (2子コメント)

Um, no that's wrong too but thanks for the feedback.

[–]CBR01 [非表示スコア]  (1子コメント)

"That's wrong too" with no reason as to why. Way to win someone over to your side.
